No sequel?

Wasn't this re-release supposed to be a prelude to a sequel?

As I understand it, and I could be wrong, there was something in the deal under which THQ Nordic got the IP that said they HAD to do this before doing a sequel. They WANTED to do a sequel, but that was obligatory on doing this first.

i think they mighta lost passion for it. the dlc they released had so many straight up terrible ideas like the chaos dungeons were hellish since most people just run past mobs on higher difficulty expecially at that stage of the game you dont even need xp. grinding through those chaos dungeons straight up wasnt worth it xD if only they had patched those out or made it super easy to b line them instead of searching for keys ug.

if there was to be a sequal it would also most likly be an mmo something iv historically had a hardtime getting into

It's true that one of the sequels was an MMO(RPG). However, BHG/38 Studios were working on a proper sequel to Reckoning as well before they went under.

There's some (really cool) concept art floating around on artstation https://www.artstation.com/artwork/WmGYQ3 , as well as some test materials https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Jlrva . It was being developed under the codename "Project Evergreen", but it was never officially revealed. Who knows, maybe some studio can continue where BHG/38 left off? Only time will tell!

From what I read, they WANTED to do a sequel, but the terms of the deal that got them the IP required that they do the remake first. So it's remake, THEN sequel. However, with all the trouble Embracer's going through right now, that might not happen.
