Gossamer End Crash

I can't enter my house, Gossamer End, in Canneroc. The game immediately crashes when I use the door. I'm level 28 and it was working the whole time until now. So far I have tried:

- Verifying files
- Going back to a previous save (quite a bit back)
- Changing graphics settings
- Playing the game normally hoping it would resolve itself

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, I'm all ears. Thanks. I'll try reinstalling next but worry about losing my save files.

That's a strange one. Do you have any items in your stash? Perhaps an item in the stash is causing the crashes?

The editor has the option to delete stuff from your stash. Try that and find out what item is causing it. The save editor will make a backup of your save before applying any changes. If you want to make a manual backup:

Unfortunately, no dice. Deleted everything from my Stash and still crashing. Quite the bummer to be honest.

So I have tried a lot of different things. Even going to the extreme of deleting/selling ALL items in the stash and your inventory. Game still crashes. The only item I could not remove was Searstalk from the quest Dangers of the Sidhe (you already completed this quest). The wiki says you always end up with an extra one in your inventory and it cannot be sold or junked. I also can't delete it using the editor. I don't know if it's the cause.

Thank you for your effort. I'll keep trying whatever I can, meanwhile denying the fact I might just have to start over. Oh well. I'll see how bad it is without a stash for now.

question, did you loot all the things in the house after you upgraded it before exiting the house and have you been looting the web bag on the floor next to the exit on regular bases?

did you even upgraded it fully?

I upgraded fully immediately. I have been looting the bag regularly, and putting the Gossamer in my stash actually.

If you're referring to the weapon racks and shelves and such, yes I looted all that a while ago. Last time I used the house was swapping a piece of equipment and some gems. I just finished Teeth of Naros's main quest before this issue happened; don't know if that's connected in any way.

I have a 2 day old save where everything still works. Might tinker from there to see if I can find a cause, at the very least help others avoid it happening if it's reproducible.

The save is right before the Maid of Windemere fight too, which is quite the stun-fest ugh lol

I've experienced this crash just now. Been playing for 50 hours and Gossamer End was just working fine the whole time I could access it. I'm level 26 nearing 27, btw. Close to your level range it seems. Crashed now for some reason... Recently I've gone over 100 items in the stash, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Also, ran into a bug with the Sagecrafting Table in the house. Could have something to do with or not. I used a potion to get max level Sagecrafting to be able to remove gems from items, and used it to remove 2 Gems of Precision and a Gem of Haven on a Studded Leather armor I had. At the crafting table, once I enter the menu to remove the gems and I actually remove the gem, the message box saying "Gem removed and added to inventory" appears but the Gem is still visible on the Studded Leather Armor. So I click on it to remove it again, and the "gem removed" message reappears. I clicked on it several times and the "Gem removed" message keeps popping up then somehow the top utility socket which contained the Gem of Precision had the Icon of the Gem of Precision change into a white box and the text changed from Gem of Precision to INVALID or something. I checked my inventory and I only got the exact 2 Gems of Precision and 1 Gem of Haven despite how many times I clicked on it and the "Gem removed" message popped up. The armor itself had its gems completely removed. I eventually brought it with me to sell it.

This is bug is probably unrelated, but coincidentally, that was the last time I could access Gossamer's End. Also, I remember changing my character's appearance the last time I could access the place. Now it just crashes. Whenever I interact with the door, the loading screen appears and the game crashes. Don't know why that is....

Actually, I think you may be on to something...

That Sagecrafting bug happened to me too, exactly as you described (except that I used a necklace for my final Sagecraft level). Though I can't quite be sure, this must have been one of the last times I accessed Gossamer End before the crashing.

Can you access your stash from any of the other homes you can acquire?

I've fixed your save file by deleting everything in your stash uisng the latest version of my save editor (note my editor currently does not allow you to modify files named svd_fmt_1_0.sav as that can lead to corruption.)

I didn't test what caused the crashing, but i'm going to guess it's related to the items with gems.

The older versions that was on fearless specifically said don't remove item that have gems socketed from your stash as that was not fully supported :)
