If I don't succeed, I keep distance, so I can see and react to whatever they throw on me. I try to never be as close to them, that they can jump attack or even tail attack me, if they are not stunned.
If the kiting space is limited and the level architecture allows, I also use edges and barriers to force their attacks to go fail.
I play with a chakram mage on very hard and don't have special problems with them.
Also, they are vulnerable to fires, so you can utilize this feature.
Yes! I remember the quest "the blossom" well. It took several tries, to beat all these sprites without reckoning mode or potions. And mages with their tripple fire balls and tripple tornados are hard to dodge. Shields probably do well here, but I always have to force myself to use them.
I play a Finesse/Sorcery character and what I do to fight them is spam spells. I just run around in circles to avoid the poison flies until they run out and dodge when needed. Then I spam spells and keep my distance. Most of my deaths to them is me getting greedy and trying to do more damage at close range and forgetting the 2nd tail attack.
If you've maxed out alchemy, plenty of potions can help you make the fight easier.
You could also use Chakrams and do the hit and run strategy with that as well. Still not a fun fight, though. Very small window of attack for the players.
They are also often accompanied by those spear guys who like to jump at you from across the screen and interrupt you when you would have the chance to finally hit one of the mages.^^
They so aren't. The first one kicked my butt. Now, level 10, they're not too bad. Mountain Trolls and Ettin shamans I have no chance with.
The Ettin are tied with the crudoks for my least favorite. I hate the entire area of Ettinmere and I swim as much as possible until I take on the quest to kill all the shamans for the Warsworn. One of them is tough enough, but where there are 2 or more, I have even more issues. I usually fateshift if I can and kill them as quickly as I can. I hate that damn slapping they do, and the shamans with the lightning are the worst. Ice works decently against them though, and I basically spam the Shadow Flare ability off the finesse tier since that will weaken their armor and then let you do damage with the second hit with the knives.
The reason why Crudoks are such a pain is because all their attacks are poison based. That means against my heavy armored warrior with alot of physical resistance it's combo removed around 60-70% of my health if I don't block it and 30-50% if I block it (This is with almost 1500 HP). It's poison bolts are just as annoying by dealing a good amount of dmg (15-20% unblocked) and are homing.
Now if I know I'm gonna fight a Crudok they are easy enough as I can sprint up to their location and hammer them with 4-5 attacks to stagger them and thus killing them without a problem. But sadly this have only happened like 2-3 times in total.
