also funfact (unless its been changed in the re-release) chakrams and staves count as melee

I like to think of them as reach weapons. Most games treat reach weapons as melee even though they have an extended range, and they usually don't have as long of a range as those weapons classed as ranged weapons.

Bonus fun fact: Chakrams also count as edged weapons for stuff like the finesse poison sustained ability that adds poison damage to edged weapons. It's the little cross-over stuff between the three archetypes like this that makes mixing and matching them work well.

Chakrams + Daggers.
Chakrams for mid range and crowd control, Daggers for fast high damage single target.

I'm leveling all three at the moment even if only using passives of the Might path.
Reason: Generalist with Damage boost to anything and a +x for all Talents.

Chakrams + Greatsword for me as well. Greatsword is great for one-on-one. Chakrams are the perfect crowd control weapon and also give you the range you want to stay away from certain enemies. coughcrudokscough I use the greatsword the most when I get Kellerac's Sword, which is in a stone relatively near Rathir. It's easy to miss since it's not in a chest or log or rock pile. I missed it on my very first run on the original. You need a certain amount of might to pull the sword without the gem, and even more to pull it with the ice gem intact in the sword. If you don't have enough might but have the sagecrafting you can pull the gem out which will destroy the sword.

Chakrams + Feyblades. Going about 50/50 Finesse/Sorcery. If I can find mob to backstab, I will.. but so far they have been so far inbetween I'm not sure what's the point of stealth and backstab passive is, really... With the detect hidden passive's "show where npcs look at" it seems just about impossible to sneak behind 99% of mobs because there's always another mob looking at opposite direction. Or even if mobs are looking at same direction, it's the direction you come into the area.. :/

Chakrams for kinda group fights, even if complete combos usually let a mob or two sneak in. Pretty sure most of my damage comes from spells.. but gotta use chakrams when they are available. :p

I've always used Chakrams in a 50/50 Sorcerer/Finesse build. I'm going full Finesse this time so I'm using Faeblades + Longbow. Never used the bow before and it's gets pretty good once you put some points in it and get a decent bow.

I miss Chakrams for those fights with 4+ enemies haha :P

i always go with the "jack of all trades" build so i use a long sword and bow with spells mixed in

i dont use a second weapon because i don't want to put 6 points into another weapon mastery atm.

just have some fire staff there to burn webs.

First time playing sorc, back in the day I loved Faeblades + bow (Finesse) or Greatsword + bow (might) . Now it's staff and chakram. (magic). I only use weapons to finish enemies that aren't worth another fire tag/bolt though.

My heart beats for the greatsword but my brains says no. So chakrams are my second choise. I'm playing as pure mage, because I don't like most of the might tree abilities much.
Being mage is a bit more relaxed in very hard mode, also.
