To get Buru's Boots, you will have to engage and kill Ametair. As you bring him down in health, he will vanish and go deeper into Arduath. Depending on the damage you can inflict, you might need to only hit him once. This happens three times. On the fourth encounter he will stay to fight. You cannot save the game between these four phases.
OMG THIS. I took some advice and painfully have made sure to do the least amount of damage possible during each room so that he will go to the next. He goes to the fourth room, and just runs around at 0 health. What am I supposed to do? I played through this original game on steam and never had a problem with *this* particular guy.
The link to that wiki does not help in this situation.
Yes same with me I gradually killed him (I have no special DPS) and eventually he stopped running away and he was at zero life but he didn't die. I tried every form of attack I had, but I eventually ran out of potions of healing or resist bleeding.
I was at 1/4 fate meter and hitting him was not gaining it. So I'm going to go exploring and hope to kill him like Aaron ash (above quotation) by using the Fate Meter.
Anyone else facing problems with the Travelers quest Ametaire who has boots I need to loot off of him.
EDIT to avoid double post: ok third time was a charm!! This time I only hit him with fae blades and avoid sorcery attacks wondering if those are hitting too hard. Fae blades are less damage per hit than Chakrams. Then he went down at zero health but still 'alive'. Well at that point I decided to abandon my game plan and I started hammering him with the sorcery lighting ball followed by spamming Chakrams and I was delighted to see him die and looted his damned boots. So not sure what made the difference but I guess I encourage to experiment and have confidence that it is possible.
I avoided this quest for several levels and had to do this about 15 times yesterday until he finally got to the last room with health left. I zapped him with lightning and then hit with chakrams, though I'd done that before too and it didn't work. I also tried using a staff, which I have no points in, just hitting him with lightning and waiting, etc. I never managed to get him to die after he hit 0 health and was still going strong - the only way was to hit the jackpot and do the "right" amount of damage in each room within the expected time. It is seriously annoying.
