This game is really good
I bought a long time ago and it sat in my library unused, and just recently gave a shot for whatever reason. This game is really good.

It *is* really good. I cleared the original Reckoning. Then Re-Reckoning came out and I cleared it again.

The only complaint I have is some bugs aren't fixed, maybe they can't be fixed, I don't know... It doesn't break my game. However, I heard about the buggy DLC and I don't dare to try it even now. Which is a shame because I really want to raise the level cap to 50...

I played through the newest DLC and it was alright. It's not the same quality for sure, but it is functional and it adds some new areas, quests and gear. I think it is worth it. If you played the whole game , which I know is long, it's worth to give it a go and spend some time at least trying out the DLC. Just remember to backup your saves x.x

Personally I didnt like dlc retconned the ending, and the whole relationship with Alyn Shir is ruined. Throughout the entire dlc you are constant state that "you shouldnt exist" and that you're the bad guy, I wont spoil the ending. Overall the new dlc is 50/50, certainly didnt at times feel like a KOA dlc.

it's definitely a very good action rpg. i don't think it got the credit it deserved when it came out (although i know it did receive some very positive reviews and coverage.) there's so much content even without the DLCs, and every single line of dialogue is voice acted, and there are SO MANY. obviously by today's standards it's lacking in traversal abilities, the open world isn't so open, etc but given its age it still holds up nonetheless.

it's just a fun game to lose yourself in a high fantasy setting with great lore and worldbuilding and really fun combat, and juuust enough depth.

Agreed, it's an amazing game and very underrated. It's not a particularly difficult game which actually allows plenty of room for experimentation and suboptimal builds or when you're used to the game making a hyper optimized pure offense build and still do just fine with consumables and items. Unfortunately it does have some bugs that were never fixed but I don't think any of them are truly game breaking, at least not those without valid workarounds.

The real shame is that this was supposed to create a brand new IP with multiple games and even an MMO though unfortunately the game didn't do well enough on release so all those plans got canceled. It's why this game is so massive and with such rich lore.

To mutantspicy: Yeah, I did the same thing: Got bored, looked in my Steam library and discovered this gem. Good gaming toya
And what's good about it? It's easy-peasy even on high difficulty. You approach the enemy, spam the left mouse button, you don't even have to try not to take damage. If you do get hit, just press the healing button. You can carry tons of healing items in the inventory and they are applied instantly and without cooldown

wish I could say the same. I'm encountering a few game breaking bugs that crash my game when entering certain locations. I'm pretty bummed because I was really looking forward to enjoying a replay since I played it back on console

Really? Because one of the reasons I was impressed with the game is how well it played, lack of bugs and overall polish. The game feels like playing on a old console game where everything just works, snappy and responsive. Robust movement, and there is no jank or awkward platforming moments. I have not experienced any bugs, and instead find this to be one of more robust and very well optimized games. I've heard rumors about the DLC, which I don't have. So IDK if thats a factor.

The problem is that the original programmers are long gone as 38 went bankrupt. That's going to be the major excuse for many original bugs being in the game, but hey, they were able to make it so that you can't abuse the merchants for easy gold and xp potions, because that's what really matters (sarcasm).
