"Tinker's Task" at Sun Camp - relic of the previous edition?
Hey all, just encountered this recurring task where a Traveler NPC in Sun Camp requests iron components from weapon and armor drops. A great way to dispose of old components, yes?

Except that, as of lvl 26 currently, I no longer encounter iron weapon/armor drops even if I revisit previous areas, thanks to Re-Reckoning's dynamic level scaling. Sun Camp is the last of the Traveler Camps to be visited in the faction questline, and by the time the PC progresses long enough enough to reach it, iron loot drops are nearly guaranteed to be off the menu, which renders the quest impossible to complete.

Is this quest a bygone relic of a previous game edition, where you could fast travel to a previous region and secure iron weapon/armor drops? If yes, is there any way to remove it from the quest log? If no, how do I find iron components when my level is too high to qualify for those loot drops?

Thanks in advance for your time.

This is one of the task that will never be completed. Just like the fire salve, prison keys, peasant clothing and so on. They are there only to be a small gold income that quickly becomes useless.

That's something I wish they'd changed with Re-Reckoning. I wish they would put a limit on the tasks so that they weren't a continuous thing that you could never actually complete. I hope if there's a sequel that tasks will have a set number of a times they can be done before the NPC tells you you've done enough. I like that about the Fae Honor Brands quest in Ysa; it's so nice when he tells you you don't need to make him anymore of them. I mean yeah, you've got to go sell them off and usually at a fence since a lot of the components are classes as stolen, but you can get rid of any bits you have left that you don't want/need.
FYI: Shieldfast Keep's quartermaster sells a selection of iron components, assuming you haven't turned turned the Warsworn hostile already. You can probably still buy some iron equipment from there and the merchants in the first town, as well, if you haven't cleaned out their stock.
