blacksmithing components
Is there anywhere you can buy master or flawless components?

From Gravehal Keep you can send Myfa Rhonwen on different diplomatic missions. If you send her to trade with the Dverga (Emberdeep), she will return with blacksmithing components. I guess it's level dependant, but at 40 she only gets flawless quality.

So far the best way to get them seems to be with high blacksmithing skill, which affects the drop chance. Also, you can get them by salvaging stuff you have crafted and enhanced with gems.

Put in a component you want upgraded, put in a good gem, salvage. The fandom page has more instructions for it:

"It is possible to use gems to strengthen some components to flawless, although it is unclear whether this is a bug or not. After extensive testing, it would appear that ALL primary support components for weapons (fulcrums, grips, shafts, etc.) using weapon gems can be improved. SOME combinations of secondary components (rivets, lining, etc.) using utility gems can be improved. Extensive testing has all but eliminated the possibility of using epic gems to improve components."

It's in my opinion an exploit of a messed up system. Would be really super if salvaging was fixed to return exactly what's put in, gems included.

I've found that playing on very hard causes them to drop a lot more often than on hard. Also more purple/golds. Other than that, I just trash stuff w/o save scumming and wait until I have what I need. I get 1-3 random flawless drops per 15 gear trashed, usually health and mana-related. This method mitigates the "OP"-ness of crafted gear people moan about so much (while probably often exploiting the system). Plus don't forget you can get decent components by killing peaceful creatures or having the summon up when you walk around, who will do it for you.

Does this even work anymore. I tried the other day and in 100+ attempts I didn't get anything else than any of the mats I used and weak rivets and binds. No transfer of effect to other components.

Beside that then I first began seeing flawless components drop from enemies and in containers when I went to klurikon.

It works. Put in only the core component, the component to be enhanced and a gem with the same effect. Then salvage.

Be sure that what you salvage drops that component - sometimes the crafting components and salvageable components differ. Also components are salvaged at 50% - 10% rate.

I use a salvage mod to make those 100% for each.

Which mod is that? Does it break the game in anyway?

Yeah okay can see this part with the gems do work. So think it's either intended or they just though it wasn't to OP as you are limited in what you can gem for.

On the other hand it was the other exploit where you transfer effect from components I was thinking about. I have tried to do that and it hasn't succeded once. Thus I think this one have been fixed since this was the OP one.

I've used version 1.1 of it without problems. Haven't upgraded to 1.4 yet.

Remember to first install Mod framework, here:

Which components are you trying to dupe? 'Cause I know for certain that you can dupe the generic "+X% Damage" Grips/Bindings/Rivets.

On the other hand, duping with Trim/Lining/String seems to be damn difficult, if not impossible.
