Special Delivery Chest; are the items still locked at the level you open it at?
Or are some items higher level, for example? I know everything should be in the chest but before I open it, I want to know if I should be waiting until I'm higher level so the stuff has any amount of value later.

In the original - I didn't know that. So let say I just wish to explore some far region on the level 15, just to take a peek, what is there. Finding the creatures are OP I go back to my quests in the previous maps. When I finaly get there, continuing the story, many many hours of gameplay later, on the level 35, I still get a loot devised to the level 15!!???

I understand the point of the chest in the original game but for Re-Reckoning it's more trouble than anything else. It's confusing for new players, especially if they haven't discovered inventory limits yet; it kills both the economic tension and the joy of discovering a mediocre green piece of gear; and with everything stuck at an early level it's hardly a useful boost later in the game the way buying one of the gear dlcs would have been.
I'm surprised that the contents haven't been scattered into the loot tables, used as quest rewards, or something else. It might have even been cool to merge the chest into some kind of transmog system, just so we can keep the unique skins.

Yes, they are locked when you open it, so make sure you open it at the last level possible in that area ;)

Can you actually make them scale or what have you? They're obviously meant to be these unique, powerful items, but they end up...yeah. At least gem slot(s)? Perhaps? Yes?

Transmog would work too...

I'm level 13 on very hard and open the chest for the first time, all items are level 1 or 2, not scale to my/area level at all. Expecting it will scale with me unlike the original game but no, feel bad man.

As said earlier a few posts back it is currently bugged and we are looking into it!

Go to the chest as soon as you can because you want the Compass of Fate and The Dousing Wand. Big deal if the other items get leveled to a low level. Just choose whatever gear strikes your fancy and go. The gear is garbage, but it will do until you find better gear with sockets.

Let the rest of the gear sit in the chest until you have your first player home. You can transfer the gear to your stash if you want. Then let the gear sit until your blacksmithing skill is high enough to salvage everything.

As I posted on reddit, this chest is buggy. Less than half of the items scale, and the scaling starts as soon as you receive the quest for special deliveries.

I agree.

Think the first zone stops at 12 so that is where I would open it.

I thought that the cap varied with difficulty level? Is it only enemies that scale higher and not zone level or loot? I keep thinking that I understand this and finding that I don't.

The special delivery items should auto scale to your level for the entire game imo...

I'd prefer them to stay the way they are. I want to find loot in the game not keep the same gear i got out of a box in the first village.

I didn't touch the special delivery chest until level 15. The disappointment in getting all level 1 gear is real.

Lol at thinking this loot was going to scale and waiting until level 12 to open it...Just gonna sell it all for ZERO GOLD and pretend it never existed...

For what its worth, the save editor for the OG game is being updated for the new one. It is still in beta, but I tested it out and got my DLC gear to level up. I won't be using it in the long run since other stuff is still better, but it is really cool looking compared to most higher level gear I have seen
