Quest Bug: The Silent Step
The boss for this quest Ametair is unbeatable. During his first 3 phases the amount of damage he takes to "move on" seems to be totally random. In none of my attempts am I able to get him to the final phase with health left over. In fact most of the time he has no health left after phase 2 which means in phase 3 he just ports around for a bit and eventually a random hit on him makes him move on to the final phase.

I've tried everything I can think of:
only abilities
no abilities
only weapons
using different types of weapons
using different elements of weapons and abilities
using weapons that do almost no damage as not to "over dps" him early on(This method seems to be the easiest way to bug him out as you can do over half his HP in phase 1 just by pecking him down a few HP at a time)
Used Fate mode on him(I can hit him for my entire bar while spamming F and nothing happens)

Fix Please! I cannot progress in my game and I refuse to play load game hoping because of silly bugs like this that shouldn't even be a thing.

There are lots of threads on this already. To sum up: you have to keep redoing it until the game thinks you did the right amount of damage in the right amount of time. I'm unsure whether this is caused by the quest being done "too late" in the games opinion, as in you do more damage than expected by having out levelled him, or if it's just set to expect x amount of damage within x time and anything going beyond that glitches him out. Someone said he automatically dies if you keep him going for long enough at the end or quaff invisibility potions. Buggy games really need a console option so people can fix crap like this themselves.

Hello Dump_The_Trump_2020

Unfortunately you have run into a known bug with Silent Step, please could you follow the fixes in the bug reporting thread below. Should the bug persist then i recommend following the instructions in the post for reporting the bug, the more details you can provide will be useful to the developers who will hopefully have a easier time finding and fixing the bug with the information you provide

Was this a known bug in the old version of the game?

WHY DON"T YOU JUST FIX THIS BUG?

Not to discount others, but I played this quest today with a level 40 character and gear and had no issues at all, so it's not affecting all players.

Bugs won’t effect everyone but the mods stated it’s known and so far hasn’t been fixed.

Can confirm this is still in the game as of 15-March. Just ran into it, he disappears after "phase 1" and never reappears.

I was able to get him to reappear by only hitting him once every now and then. (If you hurt him too much too fast it glitches). Go slow at each phase and dodge/block a lot.

I just did this a second time on my 2nd playthrough. Use a close-combat weapon to attack him at the start. Once the health bar comes up with his name on it, then you're good as far as getting past the first bug. Then the second part just hit him a few times each room, then he'll move normally from each area till he jumps to the last room and you finish him.

Don't use ranged attacks from outside the rooms or you will despawn him, use close combat and run to him in the rooms, don't make him run to you, meet him halfway.
Let him get the first attack each time and then battle him.
Fight inside the room, Not in the passageways adjoining the rooms. Try to keep the fight near the rooms center when fighting.

Just hit him a few times each room till you reach the final area. He usually took 2 hits each area then at the last fought him till he was dead.
I used daggers and a magic flame attack on him.
Actually both run-throughs I fought with daggers.
But used daggers+skills 1st fight (bleed/poison)
2nd used daggers+spell (Fire Attack)

And just to note, I did run into this bug my first time playing. But by doing it in the above way after I haven't encountered the bug again.

Hope that helps

It bugs because you do too much damage (doing the quest too late) just equip "weaker" weapons
I cannot believe that this bug still exists after all this time and in a “remaster” of the game no less. I played the game bug free right up until now. This totally changes my opinion on the game. I really enjoyed it up until this point.

This does not track as I just made an attempt where I _only_ used the lvl 1 lightning skill and dodged as much as is even possible. Meaning I did around 40 damage per appearance. And he still simply did not show up at all in the second room. Whereas I earlier went full ham with my Poison Faeblades and he just kept appearing again and again in every room (up until he killed me because I was too slow with the TAB wheel).
