start screen just plays, no mouse click or button ever starts the actual....just sits on e start screen with nothing to click or play buttom

when i open the clock and click on the asian doll head it disappears but doesnt appear in my inventory so i can put it on the doll and move on with the game. I have tried this 5 times now even quitting the game and restarting it.
