We don't have a precise schedule yet, but I can say that we'll probably go through the same setup as NeuroVoider (i.e. community alpha etc).
More news in that regard in the coming weeks.
Hey there! It's still too early to know this but we're working on it!
I'm digging it
Matt Makes Games games as a whole are an influence, yeah. Glad you're liking it!
Art style looks great! Im keeping my eye on this one :) im a rogue-like fan.
well now i feel stupid, but still is this game planned to be sweaty territory?
Hey there!
The "do not die" in the trailer sounds ominous, but fear not, we're trying to make a smooth rogue-like. If you played our previous game (NeuroVoider, which is also a rogue), it's definitely going to be way less harsh.
Ultimately, we'd like to craft an experience that is suitable to all players. The game should be beatable by most people (just don't expect to beat it on your first run), while power players will have access to optional routes to spice up their runs.
The idea is to create a cool baseline, and add optional systems to the mix (secret bosses and stuff).
As *Yuki* noted, nothing should be able to one-shot you, and as of now, there is nothing in the game that can hit for more than 1 HP at a time on the base route.
Hopefully the game will have a cool enough learning curve to allow you to into the optional routes at some point.
If you examples of games you would consider too difficult or too easy, feel free to name drop here. We're always curious and open to get the right challenge to the right player.
Thanks for the detailed reply!
I havent played Neuro Voider on PC but i have played it on switch im glad that you are planning Scourge Bringer less harsh (Yeah you got a lot of HP and a shield if you are Fortress but the boss's attacks are near undodgeabll and they allways felt like they bully you). However i feel like its important to mention, if the game gives you the ability to dodge, 10 hits is a lot i dont know for how long those 10 hits are supposed to last or if you can regain some but please take that in mind, the difficulty in rogue-likes (and lites) is also what keeps people playing.
If you are curious
Dead Cells is a very difficult game it also calls himself a metroidvania+rogue-like, but the metroidvania elements are very short (you get this ability which allows you to get to this biome which allows you to get this ability which allows you to get to another biome).
Enter The Gungeon has a difficulty mode called Challange mode (Fan-named D20 mode) its very unique from other games, you might be able to get some inspiration from it.
Somewhere between Super Mario Bros and Super Meat Boy would be optimal.
Hey :) cool that you liked it!
We are not allowed to speak about console releases for now, but we'll have relevant answers soon enough!
Worry not.
