No Controller support?
Having had 300 stitches I really struggle with Mouse & Keyboard.
Are there any plans to add Controller support?
It would be a nightmare trying to play 4 player local on the same screen and having to pass the mouse & keyboard around.

Hello,

MiniGolf Maker has partial controller support. Hosting or joining a lobby and playing a course has full controller support (unless there is some major missing functionality or bug that I am not aware of). However, the Course Creator does not have controller support, and frankly adding controller support would be extremely complicated.

HI Kevin, and thanks for the reply.
I use an XBOX Elite v2 controller for all my games, but it did not appear to work at all in your last night. I have 3 normal XBOX ONE controllers connected which my friends and partner use and none had functionality.
I understand about the creator side not having it, and that is fine, I can manage that as I can go at my own speed, but playing the game, my mates kick my ass if I try the Mouse & Keyboard, sad really, as a gamer from the 80's, mouse & keyboard was always my favourite way to game.
I'll try again this evening :)

ok, yes it worked tonight - kind of ;)
Only 1 controller is used, or if all controllers are ON, they all work at the same time, my mates will love messing up other peoples shots lol
if you look at my profile you can see I've played about 700 hours on Infinite Mini Golf, but sadly the game has so many bugs, we can only play 2 of the holes. We play this every Friday which is Game & Movie Night at my house.

Are you open to suggestions, and if so would you rather they be posted elsewhere?

Thanks for listening :)

ok, we've just tried it with 3 players, it is impossible to turn left right using a controller and aim properly, we have the sensitivy down to 1 and it still moves the arrow at a ridiculous rate - please look at refining this, or use a right bumper to slow it down like other golf games do.
Thanks

So I've tested extensively with controllers now (had a few friends test for me too), and while in general controllers are working for us, there are some problems I have found:
  • Changes made to the controls options during gameplay are not synced correctly with all players, they are only being applied to player 1.
  • The aiming sensitivity is dependent on FPS. The higher the FPS, the more sensitive the aiming is.
  • Not controller related but the camera has stuttering problems when zooming in and out.

I will fix these issues along with other reported issues and get a patch out soon.

Also, you do have the ability to enable "Precise Aim" while aiming. The default bindings are Left Control or X on an Xbox controller. You can find this in the "Aiming" section of the controls.

Hi Kevin, thank you so much for looking into this for us.
I have just tried using X on the controller, it has no effect at all, On Golf With Friends, they set it to RIGHT BUMPER which works well, would this be at all possible?
I run my games through an Optoma 4K projector at 60FPS,

It looks like a great game, and I am excited to play it properly. If we could bind all keys needed to start playing too, this would be a great benefit for us :)

Were you making sure to hold X while aiming? Have you also made sure that the binding is set up correctly in the options menu?

You could rebind this to Right Bumper through the options menu if you wanted to, but note that the Left and Right Bumper are used to move your ball left and right on the tee for your first shot, so there will be a conflict there.

Yes, I held X down, we tried on 2 players, neither worked.
I'll be happy to try again.
I don't want to bind it to a button that's already used so i will leave that option for now.
in the binding menu I don't actually see any controller options, only keyboard and mouse and pressing X to bind it manually has no effect.

OK, so I ,mapped the key to B and it did not work, I mapped it to R and pressing X now resets the ball, so I removed the binding for R in RESET and made that LEFT CTRL and the slow mo for aiming now works - not sure why, but swapping them fixed it ;)
I hope this helps in your troubleshooting,

Kind Regards
Steve

Hmm, that is odd that you don't see controller options. Assuming a controller is plugged in the far right column should display the controller bindings, like in this screenshot:

What happens if you reset all of the bindings to the default using the "Reset All To Defaults" button in the options menu?

I've reset and it's still the same kevin :(

As you can see

Here, I show the controller detected and working in Steam and in the game:

https://lookimg.com/image/screenshot-2022-06-20-215713.Q2oz1M

I have over 600 games and not encountered this issue before.

I think I've found the issue, I've removed my controller from the Steam settings (2nd image above), now it all works.
Not sure how that affects your game, it makes it so most games use a similar layout, especially racing games etc. so it may be affecting the way Unity maps the controller?
My other games work fine, this is the first time I've encountered any conflicts.
I will leave it off for now.
If I can assist in any further troubleshooting, please let me know :)

Thanks again.

Oh, well I guess this would be the second time that Steam was causing input issues.

There used to be a problem where opening the Steam Overlay would cause really bad issues with the input, but that has been fixed.

I use a 3rd party system for input instead of Unity's built-in input system. I will update that and maybe that will help. Otherwise I will have to seek help from the developer of said input system.

Hi Kevin,
We tried a multiplayer tonight, only 1 controller worked.
When I had them set up in Steam, all the controllers worked but they all controlled the game at the same time. Out of interest, how does it work for you?

We ended up playing Infinite Mini Golf, all 4 controllers worked perfectly.
Road Turtle Games  [developer] Jun 21, 2022 @ 4:05pm
Doing further research into this is yielding some complicated and frankly absurd things that I was unaware could cause problems specifically relating to Steam's input configuration system.

I've already made one change in the game's steam configuration that should already be live, so you can test again if you like. I'll be making more changes as part of the next patch.

Sorry to put this extra work on you Kevin, and thanks for sorting it ;)
We will try again tomorrow evening.
