FPS drops on powerful PC

hello, I have such a problem that while playing the game, I have FPS drops, at the resolution of 2560*1440p I have 70-80fps, but here and there it drops to 40, and the whole game seems to lag..

it's inexplicable to me, as I have R9 5950x, B550 MSI Tomahawk, 64gb Ram DDR4 3200mhz, and the system disk is seagate firecuda 1TB with writing speed 6000MB/s. The graphics card is a GeForce RTX™ 2060 Ghost OC.

I saw on YT that Mafia can handle it even at 4k..

I have MSI afterburner installed and in the game I use the processor only at 13-14%, the graphics card at 97-98%. There's a bootleneck somewhere, but I don't know where. All drivers up to date, Windows 11 legal.

in WOT, I get FPS 79-120fps on ULTRA settings...

World of Tanks doesnt need anything to run. YOu can run WOT on a smartwatch as long as said smartwatch support X86.

Maffia just does this. It also lags when ever you adjust your systems audio. This is "normal" these days.
If you are looking for quality games, just sell your PC and move on.

Well RTX 2060 is not powerfull, actually is for 1080p only. So, upgrade your potato.

PS: I can run world of tanks at 200 fps on ultra on my Smartphone LoL.

Same here, and I have a 3060. It should run well on my PC, and on yours too!
I'll do some investigation and tell you if I find anything.

Okay, got it. I'm on Win 10 but I suppose it'll be the same on 11.
Go to the game's folder, right click the executable (mafiadefinitiveedition.exe, not the launcher), and go to properties.
There, go to the compatibility tab and check the "disable fullscreen optimizations" box.
I don't know what this thing is, looks like another one of those brilliant Microsoft ideas that magically makes things ♥♥♥♥.
Anyway, the game works fine now, hooray!

1440p and above on high framerate "requires" a 3060 atleast to be stable. 2060 is very outdated in performance at 1440p

Go through the game files a bit in tell you see a .exe file for the game (dont hit play on steam or the .exe file for the launcher cuz the launcher is reason your pc is not running it well I know its dumb as heck I even put a bad review on the game cuz of that trash launcher) then it will be a ok you might see some glitches still cuz the game does not run well at all with the launcher but still it works ok for my pc when I hit the .exe for the game.

I'm running at 1440p High(save for AA being turned down to low) on a 2070 and save for the occasional stray stutter when something really intense happens it's actually a pretty stable 60FPS

this fixed it for me and i suspect it will be the fix for many but i have not seen this information mentioned by anyone but yourself on here from when i was looking for fixes. most just say just bypass the 2k launcher which didnt work for me at all. thanks very much. this fix should be known more.

Even if FPS counter says constant 70-80 FPS my game doesnt feels smooth at all, even without luncher and full screen optimalisation, fullscreen, bordeless or vsync, low or Hight setting same wierd micro shutters, I know that 1050 Ti and old i7 is kinda pottato these days but still how can be game perform so poorly even when counter says 80FPS :D

The 2060 isn't powerful at all! Get something like a 4070ti+ and see then. However, i agree that the game somehow doesn't feel smooth as it should at any(!) frame rate - even at 180fps.. It's stuttering somehow - i did disable motion blur though because i usually absolutely hate it.
