Holy crap 90c CPU Temp
This is the first game to skyrocket my CPU to 90c which is the "cap" for the R9 5900x. Something is clearly wrong here. All my other games pretty much cap around 78-81c which is standard for max settings @ 4k @ 100fps + on games I play. So its not a cooling issue.
My GPU is doing just fine though hits around 80c on all games even this one.

Is anyone else having this issue. I'm pretty much forced to play at 1080p capping my FPS at 60 just to keep it under control.

My CPU can sometimes go up to 80°C in this game, which is not as bad as yours, but still worse than in other games. And it even happens when the utilization is very low, like less than 20%. That definitely makes me feel like it's not right.

It's pretty much always a cooler issue when having problems like this.
Resolution doesn't really effect CPU utilization. So the temps should be about the same at 1080p and 4k with a locked frame rate. The only real difference will be your GPU pumping more hot air into your case at higher resolutions.

What cooling do you have? If your hitting 90c then it's either inadequate, very dirty or improperly mounted. If it's not dirty and you think it's mounted properly, then i would either get a better cooler or undervolt the cpu.
Since its only this game that has ever done that and all my other games keep to the normal temp. It isn't a mounting/case/cooling/dirt/etc issue plus I do a weekly clean out which is over kill but I rather it stay clean as much as possible.
Though when I capped the frames to 60 it dropped it to 80 - 83c which is better but still not acceptable. I'm not sure what it is about this game and my CPU.

I use the CPU cooler Dark Rock Pro 4 w/ 2 fans. 2 Front fans 2200RPM / 1 Back Fan. 2200RPM

The CPU I have always runs hot but I never seen it go to 90c before till I touched this game. Idle is a normal 45c and normal gaming hits a good 78-81c with it going above 80c extremely rare and normally drops back down to 80 and below if it touch's 81c.

5700 XT + R5 3600

Perfect 1440p60 performance, all the way through. No stuttering, no drops, no lag. Shadowing is a bit delayed in popping in during some cutscenes, but it corrects itself relatively fast.

Using the stock CPU cooler. Temp was around 64C for me for the CPU.

your cpu has nothing to do with the op setup...

I was just highlighting how the game can run fine. And it's not destroying either my GPU or CPU temps, even if GPU is maxed and and the CPU is also doing plenty of work.

kup komputer lol
:steammocking::steammocking:
I "fixed" it for some reason the game was forcing my cpu to turbo to 4.9ghz the entire time so I went into the bios and made it so my cpu can't turbo past 4.4 and it kept Temps normal. Thankfully zero hit to my fps for this game.

Ryzen 5800x here. i did notice the temps go crazy in pause menu and cut screen, actual gameplay is fine around 60c.

Time to get a better cpu cooler my friend.

It's not the cooler * Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 which is over kill for this CPU* this is the only game that ever gave me that issue. I already fixed the issue a while back anyway's.

Funny, totally not a cooling issue. With my 7950X3D I have seen this chip get to 90 degrees when paused on a cutscene in this game. 360mm AIO. I have ran Cinebench and Prime95 for hours and never seen this chip get that hot ever. Only game that has ever made this CPU do that.

The same thing happens to me, I have a Ryzen 7 7900x3d, while I play I'm between 55 - 60 degrees, but I open the map or the menu and it scales up to 88. I don't know why it happens in this game, I'm a little scared to play it and listen to my cooling like the engine of an airplane hahaha

I have tried looking for a solution on the internet but I have not found anything for the moment...

Lower your clock speed in bios to normal without a boost.

I'll help you guys with Ryzen CPUs, played this game for the first time yesterday and was also shocked to see 85-89 degrees on my Ryzen 7 7800X3D in the menus or when checking the map compared to 60 degrees during the actual gameplay especially considering that power consumption was like 34-36 Watts in menus vs 40-42 Watts during actual gameplay.

Very easy solution for Mafia: Definitive Edition (at least on Windows 11 Pro) -> follow the guide here https://steamcommunity.com/app/1030840/discussions/0/3482997257338985357/ - changing max CPU performance from 100% to 99% resulted in like 30 degress difference for me - I'm getting 60 degrees when checking the map now and like 50 degrees during actual gameplay, zero hit to performance for this game anyway.
