Is it as bad as people say it is performance-wise?
I've heard that this edition is particularly poor but I thought people were exaggerating just a terrible lot. I've come across many poorly optimized games in the past which people have described as terribly programmed such as the early early access of Mount and Blade Bannerlord but what never as bad as people said. So is it actually that bad?

Performs great for me. Off hand I'd say it might be a problem with low end computers.

Oh ok, thanks for your reply, so are the bugs also fixed? Have you encountered like a 100 bugs or do people just exaggerate their encounters with bugs?

only a few minor bugs that make me laugh, especially with the cops.

ah good to hear

I find the cutscenes to be a clear downgrade from the original. The new models and lighting look worse overall and the eyes don't properly track the action anymore unlike the originals.

If this is your first time playing Mafia 2 I'd recommend the original version over this one. If you are a Mafia 2 vet and want to replay it to see what's improved and what isn't, yeah jump right in.

so there is a content check for the forum here wow you devs are really scummy

wow this is a terrible port
Firstly i have to remove lower resolution monitors from my computer in order to *enable* 4k in game

then i have to remove lines of text to get cloth physics to work

then i have to replace a folder to stop disappearing objects

This is disgusting you devs are shameful and are disgusting

screw you i will not be bothering with your going to obviously be a terrible launch and port of the mafia remake bloody pathetic you devs are

It was suggested in another thread that I turn off the Apex Physics thing in the graphics settings, now it runs just fine in 4K here on an OK (but not top notch) machine. (i7 6700K, Vega 64)

Very bad. On an SSD the driving is very stuttery even when messing with affinity.... Very bad remaster Mafia 3 is a masterpiece compared to this game. The classic version is flawless.

The problem is not the performance.. performance is fine. The problem is all the bugs and missing features the original had.

For me it performs better than the original with AA on. The original used SSAA which was very performance heavy, while the remaster has MSAA. I get roughly 120fps in the remaster with MSAA on 4x and everything else maxed, 1440p, RTX 2070. In the original I get around 100 (and you have to lock it at 100 anyway to avoid the slowdown bug).

It does have random stutters though, but the original had that as well, so I assume it's the engine. Also if I use 8xMSAA the framerate plummets for some reason, down to like 80.

classic version is flawless? it uses 2 cores, runs like ass on windows 10 and stutters like crazy. Didnt try this one yet, so cant really compare, but classic is far from flawless

Is a 8700K i7, 32GB ram, SSD WH, RTX 2060 considered low end?

Mafia cuts down your PC with Denuvo Anti-Tampering. Of couse Denuvo says it doesnt cut down the PC but thats a lie.

As long as 2K thinks customers are criminals we can do nothing about this rootkit.

Delete the Cloth folder in the games install location.

You'll get amazing performance on any rig afterwards AND functional Physx, lol.

Got 4K60 with 4xMSAA on 5700 XT / R5 3600. Performance only dropped in particle heavy sections due to Physx running on the CPU, given I don't have an Nvidia GPU.
