Where do Vito's mother and sister sleep and shower?

Okay so this might sound like an oddly specific question, but I just replayed Chapter 2 because I just realized the Definitive Edition has achievements for beating the main story on Hard difficulty which I didn't have on because I'm a chicken, and something deeply disturbing stroke me regarding Vito's family apartment; they have no bedroom nor shower.

Yes, I examined every nook and cranny of their tiny shack of an apartment and there are only four rooms; the entrance, the restroom which has a toilet but no shower, the kitchen which leads to Vito's room with two beds and that's it. There are no other doors leading anywhere else. So where on Earth do these two sleep? Are they supposed to share that bedroom with two kids' beds and a horse toy? And did people not shower in the 40s? Any Steam detectives to shed some light on this?

Vito's sister sleeps in the same room as Vito, while his mom sleeps in the Kitchen.

As for shower:
- One explanation could be that a public shower is used in apartment block, but sadly there are no hints on inside or outside where it would be.
- Other possible explanation is that would be they bathe in the basin, that is being filled with water warmed at the stove. That's something people used to do. Except again, I can't find anything that'd resemble a basin in which you could bathe.
Although both explanations for "shower" seem to be just like something overlooked in development.
