2. Ah yes, base building in a Hack and Slash game. Exactly what the fans want.
3. Granted
4. They're alright. The graphics are a bit too much like play-dough for me.
5. There are 8 pets with like 5 re-colors between them. (TL2 had 13 different pets, TL1 had 4). Additionally the pets grant abilities, which is a horrible idea. Let us choose a pet and unlock abilities to add to them.
6. At the very least the majority of classes in the TL series are unique. It's nice that they kept the trend
7. Games are typically more fun with friends.
8. Torchlight 3 has three acts. Which is odd because every other Torchlight game has at least 4.
9-10. It's on sale for $10, which is not bad. Strange that it's more than half off just a year after release. Typically healthy games don't do that.
Generally the game does not have the greatest visual variety but neither did the previous games and honestly - the amount of content in 2 and 3 is comparable and we all know that the final act in TL2 is a single dungeon with a single boss at the end. Enemies on screen being more than in 2 is also debatable - both games have quite a significant number of enemies on screen at higher difficulties further into the game.
The greatest fault of TL3 is that it is buggy and that because of the reception the game is no longer in development and will remain buggy forever. The game features a great variety of classes and builds within them and a somewhat decent amount of content but if you happen upon a game-breaking bug that might be it for you.
135h on record and 0 gamebreaking bugs discovered
haters bad
!. It is quite different than TL2 in terms of character types and systems.
2. TL3 isn't the only ARPG to do so. It houses important stations.
3. Subjective.
4. Subjective.
5. I have pets of 14 entirely different types, not re-colours. I am not even counting various breeds of the same animal in that number despite their vastly different appearance. TL3 has far more pets than any other TL game.
The abilities pets come with add to the pool of those you unlock. You can assign any of the abilities you have unlocked to whatever pet you like, except you may only equip one of those abilities mutually exclusive. The numerous pets you find are stored in the kennel in your useless fort, other than the one you have with you.
6. Yep, they are pretty interesting.
7. The game has multi-player and you can team with others.
8. Aside from the three acts it also has the end game dungeon, that becomes more difficult and varied as you advance though it. Once you unlock it on a character gear customization is accessible on that character as well, which is helpful in endgame. That is also located in your useless fort as well as access to the endgame.
9-10. It's alright, but TL2 is better if one doesn't yet have it.
As for the reduced price, from a lot of what I have read people were unhappy it wasn't TL2+. I find that a bit odd as TL2 wasn't just TL+. I was fortunate enough to be invited from the start of alpha and if the game followed what it had originally planned it would be much further still from the previous games.
That turned out not to be well received, so they ended out having to change up quite a bit and as those iterations went on it became more similar to the previous entries, retaining only a few elements of what they had originally intended.
I suspect all that change made the game a bit less than it could have been if they were able to focus on a singular vision throughout. It's still interesting in it's own way, but as things turned out it's more suited to a discounted price than full.

You're allowed to enjoy the game, but it's all but dead.

Yeah and it's even more awesome to play co-op with girlfriend, because of that. Girls like shiny, colorfully thingy.
