+1. I use Linux and see in reviews that this game worked perfectly earlier under Linux. Remove your DRM or what you installed in one of your patches and broke the game! Linux users matter!

We updated the Steam SDK and it seems to have stopped working for those who were using Proton. We did not intentionally remove the use of Proton, but since we do not officially support Linux or 3rd party apps, it will be some time before we can review what caused the problem during that update.

Have you restarted Steam? Check out any of the issues found here to see if they apply to you: https://torchlight3.nolt.io/1900

Running linux - I tried a remove/reinstall - would not recommend. Now I don't even get the platform error. The game doesn't launch at all - just a quick 'preparing...' box then it drops and nothing

The game runs very well under Lutris + Wine (no Proton) + mf-install[github.com]. Somebody published this solution in the game thread on Proton issues page[github.com], but this post was deleted by moderator because it's not legal. I don't understand what is not legal, the game works very well and I will use it.

Thanks for all your obvious crunch time put into this game, but this issue is a real shame. I hope one day this will be fixed.

Can you give me a quick rundown on how to do this? I've attempted to run it direct from Lutris, but I still get the no platform error.

Can we a Linux version please? I am very unlikely to buy this game in hopes that it *might* work on Proton (not everyone gets the Proton version working correctly)

Would love a Linux version too!

I have read the message today, that only wine-staging works with the game. Neither Proton nor wine-tkg. Try to use wine-staging. If this don't help, try to patch your wineprefix with this[github.com]. This is that illegal content, that was deleted by moderator on Proton github page. I read this because I subscribed to that thread and got all messages on email before they were deleted.

Ugh, yeah, I've already tried that. I wonder what the difference is on my machine  Thanks anyways.

Well, with the new Proton 5.13 release, I no longer get this error message! I guess Valve fixed whatever issue Torchlight had with the SDK.
