I'll also take this opportunity to give a really brief update on what I've been up to as well:

• As seen in the Gif above, I've added wind sway animations to all trees in the game, so that our cities and worlds can feel more alive.
  
• Along with this, I've updated the world generation system to create forests rather than just isolated trees. I'll share an image below showing a new world using the new forest system.
  
• I've added wild animals which can appear near forests.
  
• I've added berry bushes which can spawn around the map. I'll be adding a new Gathering Hut building which will allow you to harvest these deposits and generate a small but consistent food amount.
  
• I'm adding cherry blossom-style trees to the game, in addition to blowing leaves/petals for certain trees.
  
• I'm adding two new technologies, Education and Monasticism, which unlock the School and Monastery building. These buildings generate willpower from children and the elderly.
  
• I've begun building out a basic unit control/RTS system, and am experimenting with new units and game mechanics.

Hey there, Creostriders! I just wanted to share a brief bug patch update that should be deployed to all of your Steam libraries now for Creo God Simulator:

• Steam Achievements are now being granted and received correctly.

This bug was caused by the way Creo God Simulator is compiled in the Unity editor and how it interacts with the Steamworks API. Certain parts of the Steamworks API—namely Achievements—were actually not supported in the compilation method I was using (IL2CPP). This was compounded with the fact that the bug was not visible to me either since IL2CPP does not compile when I'm building the app; rather, it compiles when it runs on your (the gamer's) computer. I've since fixed this issue and uploaded it for all of you to receive as an update on Steam.


This bug was not visible to me, and it was thanks to one of our Creostriders on Steam that it was brought to my attention - so thank you!

Hey there, Creostriders! It's so good to connect with you all again and share Creo's newest update. I hope you all have been enjoying Creo's recent major update and all the content that came along with it. Since Creo's launch out of Early Access, I've been busy at work on Creo's next update while implementing the great suggestions and feedback you have been giving me. It's also been great to have more direct interaction with all of you on our Discord server, which you can join here: Creo God Simulator Official Discord Server[discord.gg]

This minor update is mainly composed of one significant improvement—Steam Achievements—while also containing several quality-of-life improvements and a few bug fixes as well. Make sure to read to the end of this post since I'll be going over what the next steps are for Creo's development and what to expect!

I've been asked by many of you Creostriders to add more challenges to vanquish and things to unlock, so with this in mind, I've added 50 new and unique Steam achievements to Creo God Simulator! These achievements range from easy to moderate to challenging to insane, not to mention some hidden ones as well!

Now, you can see how you stack up among your fellow Creostriders—who is really doing the most smiting on Creo? What about building the largest cities? The addition of Steam achievements also allows us to see certain anonymized statistics from around the entire world - how many resources have been traded or decorations placed globally? These statistics will be extremely useful to me in order to improve gameplay and make data-driven decisions on how to better balance Creo.

Based on Creo's playtesting and the feedback I've received from our Creostriders around the world, I believe that there need to be new ways to gather resources outside of workplaces, completing quests, and smiting cats: this is where the Extract Resources power comes into view.

The Extract Resources power is unlocked at the beginning of every playthrough and allows Creostriders to instantly gather resources from any wood, stone, and metal deposit found around the map. With only 500 willpower, you can quickly get just the right amount of wood to place your badly needed farm or perhaps the last stones you need to build a well after a fire breaks out.

I think this power is a solid addition to your Creostrider toolbelt, and I will continue to work on adding new mechanics and systems that will allow you to gain resources in other ways. So go answer some prayers, find a good metal deposit, and instantly get some sweet, sweet metal to sell at the market!

Tornadoes, love them or hate them, they make life on Creo interesting. I mean, who doesn't love seeing villagers in downtown be tossed all over the place? Well, sometimes tornadoes will appear on the map, causing destruction everywhere on the map BUT your city, and that's no fun.

I've heard your feedback and have improved the tornado behavior to have a 25% chance on spawn to head towards your town and a 10% to head towards your town every time it changes direction. So now, you have a valid reason to build your repair shops and tie down any loose farm animals.

As time goes on and Creo God Simulator continues development, I wanted to update all of you on what's next for Creo. Please know that player feedback is extremely important to my development of our little game, so please feel free to join our Discord Server[discord.gg] and share suggestions, bug reporting, and other feedback - I really do listen to my playerbase, and am trying my best to create an engaging experience, little by little.


This is currently my largest focus. I've read many Creo reviews and feedback articles while also watching several awesome YouTube Creo playthrough videos, and one central area of improvement is the "waiting time" or "downtime", where players seem to just wait for a building to finish or a number of resources to be achieved.

I'm currently working on adding new game mechanics and natural systems that can help in giving players new options on how to spend their "waiting time". Perhaps more interesting and specific side quests, some new minigames, or even just improved simulation aspects, such as villager daily routines, store names, and other little things that can add life to Creo.

I've been working on several new technologies and buildings which should help in your resource gathering and gaining willpower. Some examples are Education and Monasticism, two technologies that unlock a school for children and a monastery for the elderly, which can both generate willpower—so no more need to smite the elderly!

I've also been working on designs for new homes and decorations, such as villas, taller high-capacity homes. stonework decorations, benches, archways, and more. My vision for Creo's city-building system is for enabling creativity while providing tools that empower those who want to really decorate and beautify their cities. I want to have a wide selection of buildings and decorations to place so Creostriders can really create the voxel cities of their dreams.

The world of Creo is ancient, mysterious, and extremely random at times. One area of focus for me is greatly increasing the number of randomized events, quests, and game elements. I believe doing so will help make every playthrough of Creo God Simulator unique and exciting.

I've got a long list of randomized events and quests which I plan on implementing, but I would love to hear from you Creostriders as well - what kind of random events would YOU like to see in Creo?

With a great majority of Creo's major game systems are now in place, I can begin to really focus on adding more content to Creo God Simulator. There are still a few major systems I want to implement in Creo, such as lite-RTS elements and tower defence, along with wave-style combat when it gets dark, but that's a conversation for another post.

For now, you should expect to see lots of new buildings, techs, side quests, gameplay mechanics, and powers in the next few updates.

• Added 50 Steam achievements, ranging from resources acquisition to powers used, in addition to various hidden achievements.
  
• Added the “Extract Resources” god power, which is a default power that allows players to spend willpower to extract resources from resource deposits manually. Currently, it costs 500 willpower to extract 125 wood, 80 stone, and 15 metal from their respective deposits.
  
• Added the “Sell Resources” randomized quest type.

• (Player-suggestion) The tornado now has a 25% chance of heading towards the center of town upon spawn and a 10% chance of moving towards town every time it moves in a different direction.
  
• The smite god power can now destroy locust swarms.
  
• (Player-suggestion) All workplace buildings will now automatically set their open jobs to the maximum number of job slots upon completion of construction.
  
• Updated the tutorial to reflect workplaces now fully opening their work slots upon construction completion.
  
• Added the Creo God Simulator’s Steam and Discord links to the pause menu UI to make it easy for players to join the official Discord server or connect with the Steam community and leave reviews if desired.

• Every completed quest now has a chance to convert nonbelievers and maximize their faith.
  
• Made every randomized quest provide willpower as a quest completion reward.

• Added Creo God Simulator’s Discord link to the main menu to make it easy for players to join the official Discord server.
  
• The game version is now shown on every saved game slot in the “Load Game” menu.

Hello Creostriders! I hope you all have been having a great time growing your cities, gaining powers, and smiting some villagers.

I cannot express the excitement that I feel to share with you—and the tens of thousands of other Creostriders around the world—the news that Creo God Simulator has exited Steam Early Access! After years of development, feedback from gamers like you, late-night programming, and the occasional full game redesign, I believe Creo is finally at the point where I'm comfortable leaving Early Access. With this new exit from Early Access, Creo God Simulator will now cost US $9.99 to purchase.

This major event in Creo's life comes along with another significant component - the Story Update. The new Story Update is by far the largest update Creo has ever received in one go: this update adds the new quests system, which includes 16 new story quests, in addition to various procedural quests, which will challenge and reward even the lowliest Creostrider. It also adds a new lore and archaeology system, new building mechanics, and even a new tornado disaster! I'll go over these and other updates in detail below.

These exciting developments are part of a much larger vision for our little game, which I'll be going over in a detailed roadmap post here in the next few days. Suffice it to say that in the upcoming phases of development for Creo God Simulator, there will be:

• A new combat system with tower defense elements.
  
• A new day and night cycle, where the actions you take during the day impact the difficulty of the attacking foes at night.
  
• A significant amount of additional main story quests, each revealing a little bit more about the complex and rich history of the world of Creo.
  
• Steam achievements.
  
• Steam trading cards.
  
• Several new god powers, such as the "Extract Resources", "Accelerate Production", and "Wind Gust" powers.
  
• Many new randomized events and disasters.
  
• Several new buildings, such as the Sawmill, Smelter, and many new defensive structures.

Though all these updates can feel a bit overwhelming, I do want to clarify something for those faithful Creostriders among you who have already purchased or downloaded the free version of Creo God Simulator: you will get to keep the game—no need to repurchase. I deeply appreciate the support you loyal gamers have shown me and my game over the years, and I'm excited to continue working on the next stage of Creo God Simulator to provide you and all the new Creostriders with regular updates, content, and lore!

Now, let's continue to learn more about what the new Story Update has to offer!

With all of the previous updates, I've always felt that the game was missing what I felt mattered most of all—the story. Every world needs to have it's why and it's how, and our world of Creo is no exception. With this in mind, for the Story Update, I set out to build that world and to do so in a way that made sense gameplay-wise, while also being interesting. The result was the new quest and dialog system.

Though it was a pretty significant challenge to get the system built out and to get all the lore written, this update includes a story system which I believe sets a good foundational piece of how lore will be delivered in-game. Quest missions will challenge you to perform an objective or grow to a certain point, while scripted events will introduce new mechanics and lore elements as well.

This update also introduces a new archaeology system—which I'll discuss in detail below—and a new ancient artifact collection system which will help you learn more about Creo's ancient and mysterious past.

This update adds 16 new story quests, in addition to 3 procedural quest types, all of which should add several hours of gameplay. I already have created many additional story quests and procedural quest types, which I'll be adding in as time goes by.

Every night, I stand upon this tower defending our village. The hate and fear that dwell in the hearts of men gather in the shadows, far from the lights of our torches and homes. When the ringshine and starlight are the only things illuminating the forest, I can see them gathering within.

Almost every night, they attack our town, only to be beaten back and destroyed once again the following night. These accursed shapes of sharp stone come in all varieties, with unique and dangerous weapons, claws, and teeth. We sharpen our blades every day, only to dull them again in the night. Perhaps, we should change our hearts rather than develop new weapons.

The record above is just one of many different pieces of ancient writing you'll discover written on willpower fragments scattered around the world of Creo! The new archaeology system introduces the museum and archaeology archive, which you can use to collect and review many of the ancient willpower fragments you find.

I've created four categories of ancient records as seen above:

3. History
   
4. Personal Records

I plan on expanding the lore with regular updates and I have a very clear vision for what I want the history and lore of Creo to be. Please know that there will be a rhyme and reason to the major mechanics of this unique and mysterious world!

Describing each additional piece of this update would make this post unbearably long, and to save you the headache of having to read that far, I've decided to go over two more additions that I consider noteworthy.


Stay away from windows and find shelter - tornadoes have arrived! Creo's newest disaster is as dangerous as it is impressive. Be warned, there is currently no defense against tornadoes in Creo, but fortunately, they wander randomly around the world, and have a chance to never reach your city. However, it's not a bad idea to have your repair shops fully staffed, just in case...


Now, it's easier than ever to beautify your city, whether that's decorating a new garden, lining a new avenue, or simply drawing property lines for your villagers' homes! The new hedge wall tool is unlocked with the "Basic Landscaping" inspiration and allows you to place hedge walls using the same system as road placement. This new system will be expanded to include stone walls, fences, and other decorations in future updates.

Though I'm certainly very excited to share Creo's newest updates and improvements with you, I recognize that there's still lots of work to do and improvements to make. As mentioned at the beginning of this post, I plan on releasing a detailed roadmap post soon, which will describe the vision I have for Creo's next updates and what you can expect as a player and supporter.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This update may cause bugs and issues if playing saves from previous versions of Creo God Simulator. Please create a new city using this version in order to experience the complete story experience.

• Created a new Dialog and Quest system and UI to allow for all kinds of new quests and conversations.
  
• Created sixteen new main quests, with a final megastructure and new gameplay mechanic.
  
• Created multiple new randomized side quests.
  
• Complete overhaul of the tutorial system: it now has interactive tasks, relevant focus indicators, improved copy, and Farabus the Scribe.
  
• The new archeology technology was created, which unlocks the museum building. The Museum allows players to collect and view willpower fragments containing ancient lore and stories.
  
• Created the new Archaeology Archive menu, which shows collected willpower fragments and artifacts. These collected fragments and artifacts provide lore on the world of Creo, and will also be used for Steam achievements.
  
• Large refactor of the trading system: now, a player can sell or buy any amount they like, and the game will auto-calculate the maximum available quantity to buy and sell. There is no need to specifically enter transaction amounts.
  
• Players can now open and close job positions for all buildings of the same type by holding a modifier key - in this case, the tab key - while pressing the ‘Q’ or ‘E’ keys.
  
• Clicking on a building with a work radius now shows the work radii of all buildings of the same type. This is to allow players to see their entire firefighting coverage, repair coverage, and resource extraction coverage.
  
• Added the new hedge wall tool to the decoration build menu, which uses a similar build system to the road tool in order to allow players to easily build beautiful hedge walls for parks, yards, and other decorative features.
  
• Added the new tornado disaster, which randomly moves around the map and can do tremendous damage to structures and villagers in its path.
  
• Added three new original soundtrack songs, “A Creostrider’s Journey”, “Ritual by Ringlight”, and “The Voice of the Ancients”.
  
• Restructured the procedural terrain mesh’s collider, which drastically improved performance on all hardware due to a significant decrease in collision calculations.

• Trade menu input values are now zeroed out after closing the trade menu.
  
• Added precise building rotation by holding the left control key.
  
• There is now a demolition mode pop that appears when a player is in demolition mode - this is to prevent erroneous demolition of structures.
  
• The recent events menu can now be vertically scrolled without zooming.
  
• Changed the farm’s collider to be taller to allow accelerated construction while still allowing farmers within to be scanned with the inspection tool.
  
• Answering a villager's prayer now increases their faith to 100.
  
• Slightly increased the collider size of the villager prayer icon.
  
• Made the small temple’s collision box much smaller and more accurate to the building shape.
  
• The Creostrider plaza can now only be placed on grass - this is to prevent placement on a small sandbar in the middle of the ocean and other unplayable starting locations.
  
• Farms and ranches now need to be placed on grass, and cannot be placed on sand.
  
• In the “New Game” creation menu, clicking randomize will now set the world sliders to a minimum of 30%, rather than 0% - this is to limit the number of worlds created with too few resources.
  
• Decorations no longer show repair icons if they are damaged and being repaired. This was done to limit the number of icons visible in large-scale disasters, such as earthquakes.
  
• Creoquakes no longer damage decorations at all. Note: decorations can still be damaged by certain disasters and god powers.
  
• Improved the villager chat conversion system, so now villagers will only be able to convert other villagers during conversations who are of a different faith, and the conversion event now has a 10% chance of success. Additionally, if the target villager is not already a believer in the player, they require at least 30 faith in order to be successfully converted to the player.
  
• Inspecting villagers now shows if the villager believes in the player and their faith and fear values.
  
• Replaced the 2D pixel-art villager spirit which spawns upon villager death with a 3D model.
  
• Willpower fragments will now spawn less frequently.
  
• Willpower fragments will now only begin spawning after the “Echoes of the Past” quest is completed, or when the Archeology technology is unlocked.

• Fixed a major bug in the trading system: when a player bought or sold resources, those resources would not directly impact the storage capacity of the shop/market. This led to an exploit where saving and loading a game would reset the stored resources.
  
• Fixed bug in the Tech/Inspiration menu where the Accounting Science tech was not being disabled if the prerequisite techs were not yet unlocked.
  
• Fixed bug where the accounting center and other buildings would show a work radius when being placed, even though they did not have an area of effect impact.
  
• Fixed bug in the Tech/Inspiration menu where the category titles would not immediately update upon a language change.
  
• Fixed bug where the pressurized willpower well could be built without unlocking the “Pressurize Willpower Storage” inspiration.
  
• You can no longer demolish the Creostrider Plaza, which used to cause a game over and return to the main menu.
  
• Fixed trees from spawning on sand.
  
• Fixed bug where zooming the camera out too far would cut off the bottom of the map.

Hey there, Creostriders!

I'm very excited to announce Creo's newest update, the Tech Progression Update! This major update focuses on adding greater progression to Creo's gameplay loop through the unlocking of new technologies and godpowers. Many of these new technologies unlock extremely helpful powers and features that will make your job of growing your religion and city much easier.

Before continuing on to the details of the update, I wanted to acknowledge the time gap since our last update. I've been trying my best to squeeze time every evening/night to work on our beloved Creo. I think I've gotten into a very good development cadence recently, and I'm very excited for the next update I'm currently working on, which I'll go over more in detail at the end of this post.

Additionally, in this gap of time, I've been fortunate enough to have raised a small amount of money from extremely generous investors who believe in the future of our game. These precious funds are being used to write new music tracks which will be added in the next update along with new game art, such as the beautiful new game cover image you can see above.

With all this being said, let's now hop into what's included in this exciting new update!


I've designed Creo's new tech tree to be more linear and better organized. I've also changed the technology icons to show exactly what is being unlocked with improved descriptions and playful animations that trigger when you click on a technology. These changes are not just visual: I've also made significant code improvements to make it easier to create new technologies and unlockable powers and buildings. This will allow me to add new buildings and technologies at a more regular pace.

This tech tree update is part of a broader set of game design updates which I believe will help in creating the feeling of progression in Creo: I want players to work towards goals and feel rewarded when they finally reach them.

As part of this major update, I've added various new buildings and a new God Power to the game which introduce new features and quality of life improvements which we'll go over below.


In this update, I created a new decorations building category. In addition to this new building category, I've added the Basic Landscaping technology, which unlocks a set of decorative trees, shrubs, and flowers. I plan on significantly expanding the available decorations so that you can beautify and personalize your city!

The old wells we have cannot store sufficient amounts of liquid for our needs, so our scribes have developed a new way of storing vast quantities of it in a small space through the power of Willpower energy and steam!" - Priest Jan Vaktal

The new Pressurized Willpower Well increases your Willpower storage capacity by 2500, being more than twice as effective as the Small Willpower Well. This new technology will enable you to have enough Willpower to advance to the next tier of powerful technologies.


"How in the world did we use to get by without knowing how much food we were consuming and producing per day? No clue, but hey, who knew keeping track of things could be so powerful!" - Farmer Nel Supren

The new Accounting Center employs various talented bookkeepers who allow you to see detailed resource production and consumption numbers per day when hovering over resource amounts. This new ability helps you better manage your resources and reach your goals.

The new Tribute Altar employs a tribute collector who collects 1 gold from each of your followers every season (16 days). Though this tribute amount may be meager when you have a small following, over time, it can become a significant source of Gold.

The new Divine Conversion god power allows you to convert all villagers within a specific area of effect for a brief moment. Divine Conversion uses concentrated Willpower to immediately change the beliefs of all villagers who come in contact with its force.


Along with all of the new buildings and powers, I've made numerous gameplay improvements, balancing changes, bug fixes, and much more (you can learn about all of this in the Creo Changelog below).

So, what's next for Creo God Simulator? Quests and Dialog.

As part of my plan to improve the progression and gameplay loop of Creo, I'm now working on a new questing system that will include main quests and side quests you can complete to receive resources, willpower, and more. I also plan on upgrading the current dialog system to help improve the tutorial and questing experience, since the current tutorial is a bit "wall-of-texty" for my liking; I want to make the tutorial more conversational and natural.

I also plan on including three new music tracks for Creo (written by our talented composer Olivia Crawford), more art, buildings, technologies, powers, and events.

The future is very bright for Creo, and I have big plans for this game! As always, I'm honored to have all of you on this journey with me to create not only a game, but a new world full of lore, stories, and more.

• Did a complete UI overhaul of the Inspiration Menu, which is now easier to read and see what you will be unlocking. Also added locked and unlocked tech animations.
  
• Added the new “Divine Conversion” god power, which allows you to convert all villagers to believe in you within a certain movable area of effect for 20 seconds. The power costs 3500 willpower to use.

• Did a complete overhaul of the villager and job management system - now each villager you see actually represents a villager with a name, age, job, etc. This impacts things as you would expect: destroying a villager at a specific workplace will remove that villager from that workplace and open a new slot there.
  
• Added the new Basic Tree, Shrub, and Flower decoration sets, each with 4 new decorations to place, bringing the total decorations available in the “Basic Landscaping” technology unlock to 16.

I'm excited to announce our newest regular update, version 0.6.7! In this update, I've added various new game mechanics, animations, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes. Thanks to the feedback that many of you have shared with me privately and here on Steam, I was able to find various places where improvements could be made while making the game more fun.

Long ago, the ancients of Creo created curious tablets infused with powerful willpower. They would use these tablets to power their ancient machines, while also using them to transmute matter to whatever they needed. Over the years, these fragments became buried under the ground of Creo, but sensing your presence as the new Creostrider, they've begun to rise from the ground. Collect these ancient fragments to grow your power, gain valuable resources, and unlock powerful ancient technology!

Willpower Fragments are a new gameplay mechanic I've added that performs (and will perform) a variety of functions, such as:

• Will allow the player to gain resources (gold and metal) at any time if one is found and clicked
  
• Will help prevent the player from accidentally soft-blocking themselves in the early game
  
• Will be collected and used as a form of currency to unlock certain ancient technologies that will add big improvements to the resource management of the player's city
  
• Will be used as a target resource to collect for quests

These new fragments will appear regularly around the map, and it's up to the player to find them. At any time, there are no more than two fragments on the map. Additionally, these fragments only exist for three minutes, after which they disappear, opening a slot for another to appear elsewhere on the map.

Several members of our community have asked for some sort of indicator to show where buildings have been placed that are under construction. I certainly agreed with the suggestion and went forward and created 34 unique voxel model construction supports for each structure in Creo.

These supports appear to show where buildings are under construction, but additionally, they also appear when buildings are being repaired. Though this a purely a quality-of-life improvement, I love the look of them, and would love to hear all of your opinions too!

You read that right: no more trying to gently rotate buildings to get the perfect angle! You can now hold the shift key while pressing the building rotation buttons to rotate buildings by 45 degrees! This was another solid community suggestion, and I was more than happy to get it added in since it makes things much easier.

In a future update, I plan on adding 45-degree angle snapping for roads as well, so you can have straight roads too, and set up solid city grids!

As I've mentioned in the previous update posts, I want to keep a regular cadence of updates every 2-4 weeks. For the following update, I've been thinking about a few items that I think I would be able to accomplish in the update timeframe:

• An updated inspiration/tech tree, with more of a shop feel. I would like to have unlockable techs and items where some are useful, and others are purely aesthetic but can be placed to customize your city!
  
• The addition of cosmetic city items, such as placeable trees, parks, fountains, benches, etc.
  
• The creation of a new quest system, where a handful of new quests will be created, such as collecting a set number of Willpower Fragments, getting to a certain population, etc.
  
• A new Large Willpower Well, so that players don't have to build so many small wells

Hey there Creostriders! I'm excited to announce Creo God Simulator's newest update: version 0.6.5. In this update, I've added several new game mechanics and improvements, namely:

• A new construction system with a new construction workshop building
  
• Replaced the old 2D pixel-art villagers with physics-enabled 3D villagers
  
• Added Autosave option in addition to allowing saving during disasters/events

The full changelog will be listed below, but overall, a rather large set of improvements was added to Creo in this update. I have all of you Creostriders in the Creo community to thank for the outstanding feedback, bug reporting, and game improvement suggestions you have all shared with me on our Steam Community pages: it is because of this direct insight and feedback from you all that I can make a better gaming experience, so thank you!


Honestly speaking, in the last few weeks, I've been shocked by how much our Creo community has grown and how many new Creostriders are out in the world playing my little game. To put it in perspective for you all: more people have downloaded and played Creo in the last two weeks than have in the last 3 years... Yes, I'm shocked by this as well! There are thousands of new players who are providing me extremely useful insight into how I can improve the game, and what they would like to see.


Because of this incredible growth of our game community, I'm excited to announce the re-opening of Creo God Simulator's Patreon page and community. Many of you have personally shared an interest in supporting the development of Creo more deeply, and so I'm opening up our Patreon page to help generate some money that I can use to accelerate the development of Creo.

I'll now go over several of the new changes I've added to Creo God Simulator, many of which were directly inspired by your suggestions and requests!


As I continue moving forward with my overall vision and roadmap for Creo, one crucial aspect of the game will be having buildings be built, rather than simply plopped down. This new feature will allow you to build a Construction Workshop, which will employ builders and more rapidly build new structures.

Additionally, you can use your Willpower to speed up building construction by simply hovering over a building under construction! Along with this change, there are now building limits applied to certain buildings (specifically, on the construction workshop for now). Having limits to the number of specific buildings you can place opens up a new avenue in the gameplay loop for Creo: building limits will be able to be increased through unlockable upgrades and rewards.


As part of my overall effort to make Creo more fun, I've decided to make villagers 3D, in addition to adding physics to villagers. I plan on adding more God Powers in the future, such as the ability to pick and move around villagers, tornados, etc. I want to make the world of Creo much more interactive, and I believe this is a solid first step as I move toward that goal.


One of the most common requests the community has made in the last few weeks has been an improvement to Creo's saving system, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Because of this, I've now made it so:

• You can save during disasters in the game (for better or for worse)
  
• There is a save confirmation dialog now, to prevent accidental saving
  
• There is now an autosave option in the game settings, which will save the game automatically every 15 minutes

I've got a big vision for what the next update will be. As I've thought of how to make Creo God Simulator a more fulfilling and enjoyable gaming experience, I realized that I would like to make the main Creostrider character a controllable, in-world character. This will open the door for me to add numerous new gameplay mechanics, such as:

• Giving the player the ability to harvest resources on your own, with no need for structures (early game)
  
• Allowing the player to move around the map, and interacting with ancient monuments which will grant technologies, powers, and resources
  
• Giving the player more direct abilities, such as a convert power, which will convert villagers within a small area around the player
  
• Many, many more

So in summary, the next update will hopefully contain the beginnings of this new gameplay mechanic, with all of the logic and new features that will go with it.

Yes, it's me, the sole developer behind Creo God Simulator. To get things cleared up, the development of Creo is indeed in progress. There certainly has been a large gap of time from the previous update, and I wanted to thank you, and the over 50,000 Creostriders, for your patience, suggestions, and reviews of the game so far.

The purpose of this first dev diary is to help bring you all up to speed on the progress I've made with Creo, on the upcoming large content update, and on the future release of the game, so let's hop right into it!

I wanted to get this question out of the way first. As many of you know, I graduated from university earlier this year. Shortly after graduating, I was extremely fortunate to get a stable job as a product manager at an AI startup. I've got a wife, several children, and a tail-less cat to help take care of.

My job has proven to be extremely demanding, and though I've learned a tremendous amount in the space of project management, AI, and innovation, my time to dedicate to Creo has been very limited.

I'll be honest with you all, during these times when I haven't worked much on Creo, a deep part of my mind was troubled: it's as if an integral part of my being was neglected. Call it what you will, but for me, Creo has been my creative outlet, and is certainly the magnum opus of my life. I've been working on Creo for 5 years, and have spent thousands of hours on the game.

In recent months, I couldn't neglect this part of my life any longer, and taking much of what I've learned in my job in regards to project and engineering management, I'm trying my best to establish a regular pattern of work on Creo in the late evenings, when my kids are in bed and I've got a few hours of freetime.

I'll be working on Creo using a new sprint structure: meaning every few weeks (2-3), I will try to release a game update or at least a progress update if the content is too much for one sprint. I'm hoping doing this will create a more regular pattern of progress, and will help you all feel more informed as to what's in the pipes for our little game.

As I've resumed work on Creo for a few months now, I've explored the possibility of re-releasing the game for purchase on Steam. I would like to hire a few individuals to help with the development of the game, but need to have the game generating revenue in order to fund faster development of Creo, so that it can be finished in a reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately, I recently realized that I had made a mistake when I made the game free while in Early Access on Steam. According to Steam developer guidelines, once made free, an Early Access game cannot charge for purchase until it's out of Early Access and fully released.

This means that I need to fully release Creo God Simulator, out of Early Access.

The full release will not be the finished version, rather, it will be a solid base for continued development. Here are a few notes surrounding the future full release of Creo God Simulator:

• Though I'm not certain of the date yet, I would like to put a rough estimate of re-release in Q4 of 2024, perhaps around October or November.
  
• I'm thinking of a US$ 11.99 price for the full release version of the game.
  
• The full release of Creo will have significant improvements to the game, including Steam achievements and trading cards, additional god powers, quests, and disasters, and a clear path to "beat" the game.
  
• My biggest focus on Creo will simply be making it more fun, and making it more satisfying to play. This means I'll be working on improving the gameplay loop, and adding in more mechanics to make your average play session more fun.

As you can see in the GIF above, I've been making some pretty significant updates to the game. I'll list some of the large updates being built out during this sprint, which should be pretty significant:


While I was playtesting my game, I felt that previous 2D pixel-art villagers—while certainly being charming—were really lacking a certain "oomph" when it came to their presence in the game world. Previously, destroying them simply made them disappear. I fixed this by replacing the 2D villagers with 3D ones. This allows me to make them have much more realistic physics applied to them, and I'm talking about destruction physics. Additionally, replacing them with 3D villagers added a slight performance improvement to the game as well.


As seen above on the right, there is a new Construction Workshop building which is necessary in your city in order to build structures. Your skilled builders will get right to work building any new structure you've placed in your city, and there will be upgrades you can unlock that speed up construction of your new buildings.


In addition to the several significant changes I'm making to Creo, there's been numerous bug fixes and smaller updates made to the game. Here's a selection of changes from my long list of updates which will be released in the next update:

• Updated build/effect area projection method to not project on terrain mesh - improved performance dramatically when many projectors are active.

Hey there all you Creostriders! I'm excited to announce that Creo God Simulator is back in active development after a long hiatus.

As many of you know, Creo God Simulator is currently being developed by only myself. For the last few years, I've been getting my university degree. To be frank, the university was much more challenging and intensive than I initially assumed, and I was severely limited in what I could accomplish game development-wise. However, I'm excited to announce that this is my final semester, and I'm graduating with my degree in May!

This means that I will have much more time to dedicate to the development and growth of our game in the coming weeks, though I've already started ramping up development and updates, and am entering into a new daily routine where I work on the game regularly.


Recently, I've had the time to plan out my vision for a "completed" version of Creo. Though I plan on creating a visual infographic progress map, I will list the crucial components I think will make Creo God Simulator an outstanding game:

• An end game and story to the main game mode. I've been writing the lore behind the world of Creo, and part of this lore involves you (the Creostrider) building certain specific structures in order to unlock "waypoint" events, which will help you progress in the story.
  
• Steam trading cards.
  
• Steam achievements.
  
• Several new structures and tiered production buildings (think a sawmill to create even more wood, or a large bakery to produce food more quickly).
  
• Various new randomized events (I plan on adding at least one new event per game update).
  
• Several new songs for our outstanding soundtrack.
  
• Various new god powers that will help balance new game mechanics and events.

Because of the new focus being placed on Creo and its entering active development, I would like to let you all know that Creo God Simulator will now cost $4.99 USD to download and will no longer be free to play. However, please note that if you already downloaded the free version, I will not make you pay for it! Please consider it my gift for showing your support and playing my game while it was free! This price change will occur most likely be in 1-2 weeks from the date of this update.


This update contains various exciting new mechanics and features, not to mention a multitude of bug fixes and improvements. Please note that this update breaks all previous saves, so no cities prior to this update will be playable.


Many of you have stated that negative random events occur far too regularly, and seriously impede your city's development. I completely agree! So, I've now modified the code to allow for both a positive and negative event timer. This means that positive and negative events are now categorized as such, and their regularity is now directly based on the map's difficulty you selected when you created the new world.


That's right! Your maps can now have mountains dotting the landscape, adding beauty and challenge to your maps. Though mountains currently only take up space, I plan on adding buildings and mechanics in the future that use mountains.


This update includes a variety of other improvements and changes, so please feel free to try out the update and let me know what you think! I love seeing your city designs and screenshots, in addition to answering questions and hearing your suggestions on how to improve the game.

• Updated random event system so that negative events occur much less often than positive ones, and how often they occur is based on the map difficulty.

Based on the reliable feedback and suggestions of the community, I've made a large number of balancing updates and bug fixes to Creo God Simulator. With the large number of players we now have experiencing the world of Creo, I've received a large number of insightful and helpful suggestions and bug reporting - I've done my best to address them, which I believe will improve your gaming experience dramatically!


A major facet of creating a resource-management game is nailing the balance between challenge and playability, which I admit needed a lot of work. Based on your feedback, I've made several balance changes that I hope will improve your next playthrough in your quest for the first 300-villager city.

Some of these updates include:

• Reduced the cost of all structures by around 15-25% depending on the structure.
  
• Reduced the cost of all willpower inspiration unlocks.
  
• Increased the building resource refund amount when demolished to 1/4 rather than 1/6.
  
• Many more balancing updates (can be read below).

That's right! After seeing the large demand for a solution to deposits/resources running out too quickly and being left with no resources other than trade, I've added in the ability to spawn forests and stone deposits! (To help improve resource balancing, I've also increased the number of resources stored in each forest/stone deposit/ore deposit, you can read more below).

I hope that you all make sure to use these new powers extensively, as they allow you to create new resources from Willpower itself. I've also got in mind several other randomized events that should help improve your access to resources.


I also saw a need to improve the previous versions' trade menu interface, which was not very clear and was at times confusing and unwieldy. I've updated it to allow for push-button amount increasing and decreasing, so you can quickly change the quantities of resources you are transacting, in addition to improving the clarity of the "Buy" and "Sell" icons. I hope that these changes make it easier to take advantage of the trading system!


These are just some of the improvements I've made to Creo, though I'm confident that they will improve your experience overall. Please, let me know in our Steam Community if there's any additional bug or need for improvement - I try my best to respond to any earnest suggestion or report!

Coming up next, I've got in mind adding a few more game elements, especially structures that unlock certain god powers. These structures will be needed to "beat" the game, as I'm currently working on an "end game" of sorts, so that the Creo experience isn't solely a sandbox, though it won't be required to complete the challenges at all!

I'm still hoping to improve the balancing of the game, and adding gameplay elements and systems that make it a fairer, more balanced game, while remaining challenging.

On a personal note, I just finished my first semester back in University for my Electrical Engineering degree after being out of school for years - I was fortunate enough to do well and get good grades! I've got several years left in my degree, and I'm excited for all that the future holds.

As I mentioned earlier, this update breaks previous versions' savegames due to me changing my company name. To continue to use your old saves from the previous version, please follow the guide below (this is for PC users):

1. Enable seeing hidden files on your computer.
   
2. Find the "\AppData" folder on your file explorer, generally contained in the "C:\Users\USERNAME" folder.
   
3. Click the "LocalLow" folder.
   
4. Click the "MKSM Design LLC_" folder.
   
5. Click the "Creo God Simulator" folder.
   
6. Copy all of the numbered folders (0,1,2,3,4,etc.), these contain your savegames.
   
7. Return to the "LocalLow" folder.
   
8. Click the "Aviodrone Robotics LLC_" folder.
   
9. Click the "Creo God Simulator" folder.
   
10. Paste the numbered savegame folders you copied earlier into this folder.
    
11. Your saves will now appear in the updated version of Creo God Simulator (V.0.5.5).

• Added "Place Stone" god power - can place stone deposits at the cost of willpower - will add tech unlock soon.
