Horomachristry Rose/Sky is the earliest you encounter, Illumination Edge/Heart/Scale/Winter has a pretty early one too. A comprehensive list is probably a couple of days/weeks away considering most of the players are still taking notes on their side and have far from completed the game.
To answer the question, you don't fuse skills, you fuse elements of the souls. Your skills are attuned to an element of the soul, usually the one it gave you when you put it in the tree of wisdom. You then need to find a proper workbench, put two matching element of the soul cards and an attuned skill in, and it'll work itself out.
Has anyone made it further who can confirm or deny this?
For reference, my idea of the "mid-game" is striking aspects low on 8s and high on 14s given circumstantial events and memories.
