Why does this include cheats (again)?
Quoted from the store page:

"This product is a remaster of FINAL FANTASY VIII, featuring multiple enhancements including additional options to customise your gameplay experience and difficulty, such as:

Battle assist options (HP, ATB gauge, and Limit Break boosts)
Game speed boost (x3)
No random encounters
Obtain all items and abilities
Max G.F. levels, currency (gil), and spells
Obtain all Limit Breaks and cards"

Seriously? lol. The whole point of an RPG is spending time collecting items and building your characters. Well, and having a book-like story to follow. All fans of the Final Fantasy series know this. FF8 isn't a particularly difficult game either, and much of the content is optional. I can kinda sorta understand the game speed boost for those that hate spending time drawing magic for the junction system or something...

But why would you intentionally include cheats that ruin the RPG experience for the player, then try to pass it off as an enhancement? At least require beating the game to unlock them first, or hide them behind a Konami code or something lol.

INB4: "Don't use them if you don't like them." I obviously won't be using them. I'm just curious why they would intentionally include something like this. From a sales point of view, nor a QoS point of view, it just doesn't make sense.

Don't you think it says a lot to the type of gamers these days? Short attention span, snowflakes & self entitled.

How much attention should a game get?

It's just optional QoL stuff, for whoever wants it.
I love tripple speed in JRPGs, instead of mindlessly grinding for an hour I can get that done in 20 minutes. Maybe someone just wants to experience the story without bothering with random encounters and leveling, that's fine.
For me personally it's just about time. Theres a ♥♥♥♥ ton of games to play and only so much time, why not cut out some of the stuff you might not care about all that much?
KaosReigns Aug 22, 2019 @ 12:07pm
Cheats in this game seriously make no difference at all. None of the cheats actually matter.

The game can be beaten at the inital level, hence the achv for it (Contrived Finish). So any game you can finish at the starting level, already lost its "Hardness".

Anyone that knows the card mod system, would also laugh in the face of these cheats, as they dont add anything near as much as what card mods do.

Now, the cheat that gives you all items/magic, that ones is debatable, as it makes the game itself rather pointless to play at all. However, I assume this cheat was enabled for people that want the story, and nothing more.

Hmmm. A lot of people wanting an instant win button in this thread. Go watch n LP if all you want is the story without the gameplay. On the other hand, you do realize that except for the overall fast-forward speed boost, these are all things that you can earn by playing the game enough? (I seem to remember 'No Encounter' as an ability a GF can learn, anyway.)

Why does it even matter?

If you think it's a cheap-made remaster and doesn't worth, don't buy it.
If you don't like the cheats, don't use it.

I won't buy the remaster because being FF8 is enough reason for me to not buy it, even more after finishing the regular version, you all worrying about how someone play the game they bought, talking about it having useless cheats built-in like if trainers doesn't exists, people wouldn't use cheats if there wasn't any built-in, right? smh

Or are you all mad because you will waste your time playing this game to get an achievement and you won't know if someone else got it the legit or cheated way?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall, those "enhancements and features" are the reason people were made to set up a username and password via a launcher just to play the original game here on Steam. It's the reason I've never actually played the original game on Steam, because I don't want to go through the hassle of setting up a separate username and password just to play a 20 year old ps1 era game. I know it sounds silly and it most likely is, but if the remaster does the same thing, then my response will be exactly as before...

I'm fairly certain that this remaster is going to be a Unity game, and it will be released in the same manner as (and for $1 cheaper than) the Final Fantasy IX remaster. Which means it wouldn't have the hassle you are describing. Obviously I could be wrong. But it stands to reason that with the graphical changes they've made they would not be using the game structure of the original 2000 PC release like they did with the 2013 "remaster".

Btw, it doesn't affect you either, just like this thread. So why'd you feel the need to twist my intentions?

Oh right, because you wanted something to troll about. Or you also like to cheat and would rather take jabs at me than discuss the topic. :p
Sigh

They add cheats because many people would like to re experience an older game with out having to grind and grind there way through the game again. Not everyone wants to pad out a 15 hour story with 40+ hours of grinding.
GuRu Asaki Aug 23, 2019 @ 12:15am
They allowed Cheats into the Game so that people don't have to Grind for like Years
to beat the Game anymore...

It was more geared twards probably the New Crowd, the ones who wanna play,
but are either too Lazy, or don't have the time...

They've been doing this with a lot of Games lately, this is not new...

3-D Fighting Games - Now use an R2 Button with 4 Buttons for Specials,
2-D Fighting Games - Now use a 1 to 2 Button Presses for Special Moves...

Open World RPG Games like FF7, FF8, & .Hack Series of Games
are using Menu Cheats Pre-Installed now to Boost Stats...

They are trying to make the Games easier to beat now because
Gamer's are not exactly as Hard Core as they once were before, ~_~

They have gotten lazy, & become sensitized, & can't function in
a Hard Core Community anymore, lOl...

MK11 makes Games like this a piece of Cake, lOl...
MK11 took a different rout, they went all the way down to statistics
in how fast you can press buttons, & how fast a move can be done,
& all kinds of math related uses in the Game... Compared to these Games,
MK11 is like beyond way harder to play...

You asked? & I answered... This is most likely why there are Cheats in
Games now...

Plus most people just hack or mod the Games to be like this anyways,
so with a cheat menu, you no longer have the need to manually do this
yourself anymore...

Just think of it as? The Gamer's have Changed, & so have the Dev's...
& this is a result of the Change in Video Games...

I'm almost curious if at some point in the Future, we'll start getting
Games that no longer use long drawn out Stories like this... Such as
they will cut out all the needless or useless Sub Stories & Plots, & such,
to cut down the size of their Stories, so that they are shorter...

I for one would prefer them longer, but I guess there are people
out there who care only for the main plots, & don't care about the
Stories as a whole, such as Character buildings, the world around them,
& things like that...

well cheats are fine this isnt a hard game to begin with plus i did complete the original version, what bothers me is the remastered stuff and they didnt list enhancments, final fantasy 7 is a remaster the one thats not out yet, but this is just ff8 hd mod with trainer release? if it is hd that is, no videos or screenshots to showcase what it is
GuRu Asaki Aug 23, 2019 @ 12:24am
They didn't list the Enhancements?

They actually did list them...

The Enhancements are the Added Cheat Menu & the HD Visuals...

FF7 Original was on PS1, & later became a Hi-Res Remastered on
PC with a Mod Menu, & updated Save Menu System with much, much
more Settings in the Game, but, but this was in the 90's...

The New FF7 Remastard is not the one your thinking of...

The New FF7 Remastard came out on the PS3 first, & later on the PS4 & PC,
you are probably thinking of the FF7 Remake which is going to
only be on PS4 / PS5 next year...

There are too many games now and they are more accessible compared to 10+ years ago. This is why retention is low for games. Previously months would go by before you get a new game so you had time to complete some game that you like. Currently there are a lot of interesting games released, I buy at least 2 per week with interesting features (not necessary good games overall, but they should have something unusual that interests me). I try them for few hours and then go either play something from backlog (~2000 games) or play something from the previous week. There is no time to focus on just one game anymore. Personally I don't use cheats, instead I just leave a game for later and ocasionally return to it for few more hours, but some people will prefer to complete it before leaving and just skip most of the content to get to the end in that small time that they are still interested in a game before another one comes.

Maybe I am blind, but where do they say about HD Visuals? They only list cheats, not a single other enhancement:

Exactly, I also seem to do this..

There is actually a Time Frame between each Game Release that
people can complete them in, it just depends on how often you buy new Games...

I have been playing Jump Force for some time now, I switch between MK11, Jump Force,
& Rocket League from time to time, but am trying hard to get Jump Force beaten...

It just depends on my Mood i'm in, which Genre or type of Game I feel
like playing at the time, do I feel horror, do I feel fighting, or maybe a good old
Puzzle Game, ^_-

The difference is...

10+ Years ago, Games took a lot less time to Develop, but if I remember right,
they were held back to certain dates of release for Hype, who knows, but
when you got them, they were already complete, Open World RPG's
on the other hand came complete, but took forever to develop...

Now days, Games take forever, but are rushed in Development...
But when Released their not Complete, & take ages to fix bugs,
& release the final products...
GuRu Asaki Aug 23, 2019 @ 12:48am
Srry for the double post, or if someone replies first, then never mind...

But the thing is... This is an HD Remastard, since we are now like using 4K
& 8K soon, it was probably much simpler to just drop the HD part from the title,
& just call it a Remastard...

But here is what I got from this...

1.) FF8 is said to be a Remastard
2.) New graphical enhancements

This leads me to believe it's an HD Remstard Game...

Then you have...

1.) A whole host of options to customise your gameplay experience.

This to me, they are referring to the Cheat Menu...

Again, i've already got .Hack//GU & the FF7 Remastard was
treated the same way as FF8 is being treated...

& because they are all being treated the same way, I just felt
that it was sorta obvious this was HD... & they just didn't say HD in it...

Again, i'm thinking maybe 720P or 1080P Visuals...

& as I said before? Even the FF7 Remastard Game did not look much better
Visually in HD...

Do you think this is a much lower Quality Visual then HD?

Edited: Remastard is just changing Textures & such
making small changes... The Game would not look much
different beyond that... You know, smoother sprites, & such...

The Cheat Menu was just an Add-On Feature...

But a Remake will actually make changes, so if you are expecting
a huge quality improvement on the Picture, you are probably wanting
a Remake... Am I wrong?
