This game actually wasn't digitally available until like 2years ago.....
But I can not buy it and complain.
Feeling cheated because you don't need to spend money on something you have no use for. Any sane person care to explain this mentality? I already understand that Square is often too greedy and I personally feel the remaster is overpriced but that's not the same as "I have to rebuy it".
In addition, there's very little regional pricing on this version compared to the original Steam release. I'm guessing there will be DRM modules too on this release. No upgrade discount for original version owners either like in case of Dark Souls Remastered, forget free upgrade like for Skyrim. According to SteamDB, there are 500,000 to 1 million owners of the original FF8. Many like me would have thought that they are buying it for any future fixes and upgrades Square Enix would make to the port.
Personally, I'm a bit miffed and don't want to be thought of as a cash cow to be milked. I did support Square Enix with a full price purchase of Dragon Quest XI, but won't support this kind of pricing policy for a bit of polish on a 20 year-old game. Would rather support smaller studios not rolling in cash- like the Grandia team who are upgrading Grandia II for free for its Steam owners by buying their Grandia I remaster https://store.steampowered.com/app/1034860/GRANDIA_HD_Remaster/
or support Indie Devs who truly deserve support https://store.steampowered.com/app/758870/Kynseed/
Apologies for the rant.
Edit: There's still a way for Square Enix to fix it, if they care. Make a Steam complete-your-bundle with original and remastered FF8 and put a significant discount on it, not some lame 10% or so. And do it now before the game releases, not afterwards because that would amount to fleecing those original version owners who buy the remaster at full price.
it might run better or worst on the PC as it uses newer Hardware...
Then you probably do not need this if you already own the Original Game,
as long as the Original still works on the PC, that is...
I think the Cheat Menu Add-On was more geared twards the Newer Crowd,
& less geared twards the older crowd...
Their trying to draw in more fans with this Option probably...
A Marketing thing...
If you still wanna buy it, then that is up to you,
otherwise you may not need to buy it...
I for one do not own the Original Game, nor do I own this Game...
So for me, the Updated Visuals & the newer Hardware
might make it a better experience for me, though I do not need
the Cheat Menu that comes included... & i'm sure the other one
still works on PC as well...
So what do I do? Do I get the other or this?
This might be a 64 Bit Game, where as the other might be
of a lower Bit... But I can't really be for sure...
PS: How dare they make me purchase it for a 3rd time
What if they later came out with an FF8 Remake like they are doing for FF7?
Would you then buy FF8 a 4th Time? lOl...
i havn't got it yet because i don't preorder games.. it's a stupid practice. but i have 20 bucks earmarked in my steam wallet for it on day 1
most likely
