the problem is that if you change your steam profile name ..you change your steamID which causes the game to cease to run as it can't run the launcher and "log in" to your account. Furthermore, for unsuspecting people who have no idea changing their steam profile name (steamid) would even matter for something like this, this is confusing. They change their profile and then go months without even playing this thing and remain totally oblivous as to what the problem is..
while the problem is that you no longer have the steam id you were using when you first installed this game..
Thanks for the help fixing this
Which folder had the config file in it? I checked all of them couldn't find anything. There's no steam ID number in my Steam/steamapps/common/FFVIII remastered. I found a demaster CONF-file but I don't think it's that one and if it is where do I replace with the right steamID in the wall of text?
( I'm trying to get the remastered modded version running with the battlefield pack, lunarcry and horizonpack mods with the demastered mod tool)
I was installing mods without start the game first so maybe that can affect in some way.
thank you. this explains why there was 2 folders with an ID number and the config was in one but not the other, copied over and now it loads
Thank you!!! This ended up being the solution for me. I created a blank file called config.txt in the folder named for my steam ID. IT WORKED!! I can't thank you enough.
Thanks! Found the 2 folders , merged em and now it works!
