B Key not working to open Spellbook

I've played the game many times before with no issues. This time I've reinstalled the game and when I press the B key to open spellbook it doesn't work. I can move around, attack, jump etc. but can't open the spellbook.

Things I've tried:
- Alt+Tab out and back
- Pressing Alt or Tab before pressing B
- Using user.cfg file to assign a different key for spellbook
- Verifying integrity of game files
- Deleting and reinstalling the game
- Restarting the PC and powering off and on again.
- Plug in a controller and then trying to play with it. Again other than Spellbook everything works fine.

I've seen other posts yet none of the solutions worked for me. Can someone please help?

Same issue. Opening spellbook doesn't work. All other keys work though.
Executing on Windows 10 64bit.
Tried following things:
- reinstalling the game
- creating bindings in user.cfg
- starting in Windows XP compatibility mode
- unplugging USB controller

opening the spellbook on the XBOX controller doesn't work as well. So it's not a keyboard setting issue, but a general bug.

I found a solution. Opening and closing the Steam overlay seems to fix it.
Note that my keybinding for the overlay is Shift+F1 rather than the default Shift+Tab.

Same crap here... the game refuses to open the spellbook, I pressed B used the down button on my controller nothing works...and the developers refuse to fix this bug from what I can see...crappy company.

Sir, this game was released in 2011. They have no obligations to fix a 10 year old single player game that doesn't make them any profit anymore.

I had it happen once but exiting the programme and re-entering solved it.

Actually no. If they're selling it they should be still making sure it works.

"Should" does not equal "do" unfortunately. There can be solutions online but beware those which don't help but try to upload malware onto your computer.

They are still selling the game for money, they do have an obligation.

i installed the game on a virtual machine with windows 10, the B key worked correctly. So its not my hardware machine that is doing this bug, but the game that maybe is saving something that isn`t removed with uninstallation. The only problem with the VM solution, is that the mouse sensibility get pretty weird. I`m thinking that formatting machine also can solve this.

I fix it by formattingy windows, i've windows 10, i used the restore option to reinstall windows. You can go on start menu> configuration > update and security > restoration > restore the Pc. It's not a good solution since we need to format our OS but is the only way to get the game running right. It looks like it isn't creating some registries on windows regedit.
