Graphics Mods?
I was wondering if anyone is using any graphics mods for the game? I uninstalled the game, but I'm thinking of playing it again, but I was using the same FXAA mod for skyrim that I tweaked for this game that made it really pop when I played the first time. I haven't kept up with things since this came out though, so I don't know if anyone else has tried anything else? Here's the one I was using, but this seems to have been patched since I used it. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/131

Wow you were able to use a Skryim mod to mod Kingdoms? May I know how you did it please? I tried looking for some graphic mods for Kingdoms but I couldn't find any, even though I only spent like 15 min looking. How did it look in-game if I may ask? =)
This thread is relevant to my interests.
unfortunately the images I have for the game have been taken down since the company went under. I did find this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/mburkhead/8297446776/sizes/l/in/photostream/

Basically the biggest difference is it made the colors pop, and helped smooth out some jaggy's. It worked just like you would in Skyrim, the file went in the root reckoning folder and you'd have to alt tab to change settings. I made minor changes because it could really change things a lot and look like crap if you weren't careful.

Yea it would be cool if there would be a mod to enchance the graphics
Doesn't the developper do that..release the modding tools for the players? Modding tools greatly extend the game and make it last longer. I guess they didn't think about that or maybe EA didn't want it to happen. Bethesda lets the mod tools out for most of their games far as I know. I wonder if 38 studios had been considering it.
it was always their plan to after Reckoning 2. The first one was using a pretty old engine that was proprietary and they were unable to make it mod-able with the time they had. Then when EA kept 100% of the profits since they didn't sell at least 2 million copies, the studio went bankrupt and there is no more amalur now.
Yeah I know about the bankruptcy was unaware EA took all the profits. All I know is that 38 studios threw a lot of money at their MMO they were making..Project Copernicus, would have been Kingdoms of Amalur..but online. The Ceo was spending 5 million a month at one point...not sure if that was the money he got from playing baseball all those years..but I suspect he should have maybe put the MMO project on hold til he could get the money maker items out on the market. Bad decisions..first time game developper. It's too bad he didn't have better advisors. I do hope someone picks up the IPS for KOA, KOA 2, and Project Copernicus. Hopefully the governor of Rhode Island sells to a decent, respectable dev who'll do a good job with these IPs. Damned shame this game is going to sit and gather dust if and when that finally happens, if ever.
Actually I know a lot about that, I followed the development of both games since '06. Originally the CEO was paying out of pocket on the MMO for the first 4-5 yrs. Then there was a small window of opportunity to buy BHG because THQ was having some problems and the studio was a few weeks from shutting down and he bought it in '09 using some of his $, and EA floated them some funds to finish this game. BHG was making a whole other game, and when 38 studios bought them out, they turned their old game into Reckoning as a lead in to the MMO. They still had almost enough $ to cover another yr of development, but they weren't allowed to access that fund because the contract which sucks, and their internal team dropped the ball. There was at least 3 publishers interested in Reckoning and the MMO I know of, EA, Bethesda, and a chinese publisher I forgot the name off hand, but it's something like Nexus. There just wasn't enough time to do the paper work. However it was really close to happening.
Nexon..they're either Chinese or Korean, don't remember. I don't like the stuff they put on your machine, I suppose it is drm, but if you go to uninstall the danged thing stays on your machine...really annoying. (Nexon I mean)
These FXAA tools and such that are "mods" for games are actually just screen enhancements that run while the game does, WITHOUT hurting fps at all...it's amazing. But "some of the ones for certain games" can just be added in the folder of other games .exe and still work. Not all, but some.
Because Amalur's colours are soooooo drab. No rainbows or pixie dust or glowing neon spell effects anywhere in that game. This game practically looks like Far Cry 2 and Silent Hill had a greywashed monochrome middle-aged baby and buried it in the ashes of incinerated wallpaper catalogs. Totally bland.
Yes, I was kidding. Amalur is not drab.
Don't lie. Amalur is awfully plain. Everytime I cast a spell the damage number just appears and some squiggly lines for the spell's effect... ;)
I use SweetFX along with a custom profile.

SweetFX: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html

KOA:R Improved: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/238/

Makes the game look much better (I do take roughly a 10fps hit from it)

Neat mod newport, I haven't installed it yet but it looks very nice. I noticed the colors get desaturated. Can I still adjust the color and keep the details? Also what video card are ya using, I like how it really sharpens up the textures.
