R.A. Salvatore
Did anyone else originally buy this game just because R.A. Salvatore was inolved?

R.A. Salvatore is only second on my favourite authors list to H.P. Lovecraft. Though I do enjoy the game I originally bought it only because of R.A. Salvatore's involvement.

Ehh... I think R.A. Salvatore was one of the main reason this game failed. He isn't and will never be a good writer... And he doesn't have the imagination to create a truly unique world of his own... Or a unique story for that matter.

Meh. Salvatore had one good book, and seeing how he gradually declined in quality by every book he wrote later, I would say not even he knows how the hell did he manage to pull off the good one.

Since he did this after writting the last book of his that I've read... No, it doesn't inspire me much to purchase it.

After what he did to both rangers and drow... No. No, he was definitely not the reason I bought this. I bought it in spite of his involvement, not because of it.

I rather enjoyed his books. Drizzt was definitely not a favourite of mine. My love lies with the Cleric series. Maybe because that quintet was the first of his books I read; Cadderly and Danica, Ivan and his brother (I forget his name) and especially the Imp Druzil.

I wouldn't say the game failed. I don't know what the sales statistics are but the game is thoroughly enjoyable. Is it the sales that make you say it failed or another reason?

Salvatore wrote multiple series of books. Which book did you read? He has the Cleric quintet, the Icewind Dale trilogy, the Legacy of the Drow quartet and the Dark Elf trilogy.

The company went out of business right after release. They were trying to make an MMO too. They took out a big loan from the state of Rhode Island (the state now owns both the game and the license). The owner was quoted as saying he had no idea how to run a company.

So it failed from a financial standpoint. It is an enjoyable game so as a consumer who owns the enjoyable game isn't very important to me. Well as long as the new owners don't try to "improve" it and make it worse off as a byproduct.

I enjoyed it too. Generally speaking, I don't think US states are in the business of patching games. :)

Historically speaking Rhode Island always been one to say no seemingly just because every other state is saying yes. Haha
Either way I think its best that they don't touch it. I don't even want to imagine what they might do to it hahaha

This is the first amiable coversation I've managed to have on steam upon something that invloves oppinion. I myself don't presume to have any say in other's oppinions so I generally stay away from saying anything about other's positions on things. But it seems normally at least if you present an oppinion that is in opposition to another's they go berserk and start insulting my mother. Hahaha

Oh, I can be pretty argumentative when it comes to opinions, but personal attacks are a big no-no for me. I'll only attack a person's opinion, not the person themself.

Salvatore is pretty mediocre. He written some popular books that take place in a world invented by others. How good can he be? Yes, I've read some of the Drizzt books. They were okay, but they read like contracted pulp fantasy...which is what they are.

No.
I think I appreciate Todd McFarlane's contributions more than Salvatore's.

Salvatore is one of my favorite authors and anyone that thinks this game failed because he was part of the team...think they need to recheck their facts!
Its amazing how people toss blame around based soley on how the feel about someone...silly people.

Also (to get back on topic) the game is quite good....and for the price you can buy it at now its a steal. :)
