Is there a way to farm set pieces?
Q in title.....i had the game on Xbox and thinking about buying it on Steam, too. I loved the combat and art style. But as far as i can remember all items just had random drop chances and specific enemies did not drop special set pieces.

Some set piece can get from quest.
but the others need to root from monsters or boxes.

Yes, there is a way.

Sets are usually bound by zone and region and are randomly found in chests, hidden treasures and enemy loot. For example, you will only find pieces of the Frostweave armor set in zones from the Dalentarth region (low level zone) and not in Alabastra (high level).

Alright, now the farming: Hands down, the best way to farm for something is by killing a high level monster, over and over again: Trolls, Leanashes , Crudoks, a final boss in any side quest. My advice is to go for the trolls. Here's how to do it:

1.Find a troll - a good place for low levels (15-20) is Haxhi Dam (main quest will lead you there).
2.Beat it until it needs only one more blow to die.
3.Run out of its sight (behind a tree or stg) so you can be out of combat.
4.Quick-save.
4.Go kill the troll.
6.Check for loot. If it didn't drop anything good, Quick-reload and kill it until it drops something that you like.

:csgox:In order to not go insane and turn the game in a grindfest, try and set a number of kills before you start. I, for example, kill a troll 11 times before I give up and move on - it doesn't take much time because you are only reloading, hitting once, check loot and repeat.

In my experiance, it is not worth it to hunt for sets in the beginning of the game because you will quickly replace them with better items.
It is worth farming for uniques and sets in Klurikon, Alabastra and the 2 DLC zones. Still, if you farm an enemy from time to time you are bound to find a piece or two of a set and some unique weapons.
