Getting past moronic bug in Uprising quest (mild spoilers)

So I'm doing the uprising quest, and I end up pickpocketing the daggers off the Varani ambassador before killing her (I seriously don't remember being told to assassinate her, so I just went for the daggers).
Apparently, this breaks the quest. Now the marker is stuck on her corpse, the quest tells me to steal the daggers (which I have), and I have no way of progressing. I tried salvaging the daggers to see if that would move the quest forward, nothing.
And of course, I tripped the autosave after robbing+killing her, and this game only has the 1 slot, with no .baks.
I've half a mind to open up my disk data recovery program just so I can track down the previous autosave, but that'll be a huge pain in the butt.
Does anybody know a way I could work around this? Thanks.

Wait, nevermind. I just did what I should have done before bugging the community. According to the wiki, selling the daggers and buying them back should solve my problems. So now I have to go see a Travelers fence, and hopefully that will work.

it works. i did the same and went to sun camp to sell/buy them. but which ambassador are you going to kill? i killed keen instead of brenner. and i did that in front of 5 worshippers and never got charged with a crime. lol

Yep, it worked for me. I killed the Varani. Made more sense to me (an invasion of Ysa would turn the Summer Fae towards the Tuatha more than anything else).

But I already salvaged these daggers... Is there any way to finish quest in such case?

"Another major bug is the game will allow you to salvage the "engraved varani daggers" which will cause an immediate quest failure. (Bug still exists as of 2/6/14.) You must wait until after talking to the Questgiver after the murder, then salvage them. The Quest requires you to destroy the daggers."

Wow, this quest was not implemented very well. This is probably the first one that I've had issues with. I'm glad I save in 3 different save slots.

Damn this I have salvaged daggers too, but at least I can kill keen to complete it :D

- well she still want me to deliver daggers somewhere, but I dont have them

I picked her pocket for the gold and got caught, she called for the guards and I was able to kill her then
