is there storage?

trust me...you wont need to store a lot of that stuff. you will get many, many, many, many more throughout the game.

Your first house will come once you reach the town of Canneroc and more will follow with the chest storage in each home linked together. Your home also has a vanity mirror that lets you change your hair and tattoos.
You'll slowly increase your backpack space throughout the game as well. Here is a backpack vendor guide.

No. Each character has seperate saves

NO it isn't. Break it down create new stuff to wear or sell. Save your reagents and shards for later to make powerful stuff. Save stuff for later to sell when your mercantile is higher to get more money. All kinds of reasons to save it.
