If I can't reconfigure I just wasted my money buying this. :(
TorQue{MoD} Tried that didn''t work
You obviously don''t type with 10 fingers.. Just 2 I guess.
Furthermore I've been using EDSF since DOOM and even if I try to play games in WSAD I'm just bashing the wrong keys because my hand automaticly goes to a "10-finger blind typing position" Because that's where my hand likes to be after doing that for 30-ish years or so.. because that's how long I have my Typing-diploma. Also there is a little notch on the F key to let you know you positioned your hand right. Which has become kinda comforting over the years.. Yeah I feel the notch .. I know I'm on the right key now.. It's rediculous for a game to not have reconfigurable keys.. But I think it's even worst If a game does have reconfigurable keys but the reconfiguring is a FAIL.. And I'm kinda done with scripting my alternate keys in an external program..
So basicly EDSF was my hand position on a keyboard even before I had my first computer.. And I had my first computer in 1984
The coding is bad and the dev should feel bad!!
But for everyone who wants to put in the extra effort keys can be reconfigured thru scripting with an external program.. I'm just not going to do it anymore. In the discussion thread of the first Transformers game you can find the name of that scripting tool... (sorry too lazy to look it up)
EDIT: The program I was talking about for configuring/scripting keys outside of the game is called AutoHotKey.. It's a hassle to set up but it works.. you can at least play with ESDF.. just set your game to default and make a profile in autohotkey to config your keys...
I sooo agree with you!
Also.. AZERTY and QWERTZ layouts... think about it...
After hitting set to default, I tried rebinding to ESDF from the bottom up and it did so with no issues.
Actually you CAN rebind WASD - IF you want to use the arrow keys instead. The fix I used was to rebind the arrow keys (default camera movement) to F1, F2, F3, and F4, basically disabling the camera movement keys. Then I rebind WASD to the now freed up arrow keys.
BUT why is it I have found a solution just by googling?! Here's one I just found:
http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/50738/can-you-rebind-the-movement-keys
Hope it works for you, GDD.
- map all your key unless move and camera
-return and game , check if all is right
- map your camera move
-return to game
- map your move
this have work for me , i can enjoy playing with arrow like almost all my pc game
There just are not that many function keys to map anyway; so use wasd
Thanks so much Aquahead. You've just saved this game for me.
This method worked perfectly for me. Thank you very much. To add to the discussion, I have never used WASD in any game since I started PC gaming around 2004 with the first Far Cry. I am right handed but I use the right hand side of the keyboard. That's just the way it happened and the way it stayed. I always use directional arrows for movement and surrounding keys for sprint, reload, interact etc. Most games are easily re-mapped and a few need a workaround such as the one posted by Aquahead. After all this time, the only game that I'm unable to play is Dead Space due to key re-mapping problems. There is a fix in the community but it didn't work for me. I might try that GlovePIE thing that someone mentioned on here. Thanks again for the helpful post.
