HELP. GAME KEEPS CRASHING!

So I like this game (reminds me a bit of Skyrim) but it will randomly crash all the time. I am running windows 10. If you have a sugestion or need more information, please post below.

Update: Updating my drivers for realtek didn't work, plus I still can't get the tablet input service to shut down. Even going into the services and properties it's crashing after about 10 or so minutes. It's just so bloody FRUSTRATING! UGH. And yes, I'm on windows 10. Stupid windows 10... it almost makes me wanna get a mac!

I have win 10 but dont have a tablet (have a desktop). it is my understanding that the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel" service fires off tabtip.exe (10 mins on some pcs, 15 on others, 20 on others). this tabtip.exe process causes a number of games to crash. havent heard about any other tablet service causing this but users with a tablet will have to check.

I've been having this issue as well, I'm updating the sound drivers for my Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard (my sound card is built in) the error I've been getting in the log hasn't been with the XAudio2_7.dll like what is pointed out in the fix from that reddit article, it's given me an application error with the faulting application name Reckoning.exe AUDIOSUS.dll. Hopefully the update will help, but idk. I did go in at one point and stopped the TabletInputService in my task manager but as soon as I stopped that stupid thing it would start up again. I have TabletServicePen as well running and it's for my Wacom tablet as far as I know. THAT one at least will stay stopped but I don't know how much it's affecting anything, IF it's even an issue (I've never had an issue before either Xp) but if I stop it then the pen for my drawing tablet completely fubar'd up and I had to uninstall the wacom drivers and reinstall them. :-/

If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to them. Oh, and I don't have the Tabtip in my task manager either. So I doubt that's the problem seeing it isn't there.

If you are on windows 10, here is what worked for me

1) In your Steam Library, go to Kingdoms of Amalur, right-click it and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.

2) Select the "Local Files" tab and select "Verify Integrity of Local Files". Wait for the verification to finish.

3) Select the "Local Files" tab again and this time select "Browse Local Files". This will open a new window wich contains the main game files. Scroll down until you find an application file called "Reckoning". Right-click it and select "Troubleshoot compatibility". Wait until the compatibility troubleshooter finishes. There should be two clickable options. Select the "Troubleshoot program" option. A new menu appears, with four options. Select the first and the third of them (respectively "the program worked in eariler versions of windows but won't install or run now" and "the program requires additional permissions"). Click "Next". When the troubleshooter asks you about the version of windows that run the program correctly, choose "Windows 7". Click "Test the program". The game should load and run without crashes or other problems.

The annoying thing about this method is that you have to repeat the steps 1 and 3 (no need to verify the program files again, i.e. no need for the step 2) every time you want to play the game. I know that this is boring as hell but, I 've found it to be the only way to play for long hours without any crashes or other problems. Hope this helps.

That solution of "task manager -> services tab -> stop TabletInputPanel (Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service)" does work, can confirm, Win 10 (tho like a previous poster said, mine also was "TabletInputService(s)")...

Some people have been saying it doesn't work, but one thing I had to do was go into the actual source in properties and there is an option somewhere in there that has different options for Automatic enabling, so it keeps turning it back on. One of the options is Disabled (another is Manual, but for me that option still turned it on automatically). So set that option to "Disabled", apply, and it should work. You can watch your task manager and see if it remains "Stopped".

I did that and played for about 6 hours straight.

problem showed up again.. now there is a thread talking about the memory leak and unplugging controller to flush out mem. it goes to 99% and whole computer needs to be reset. I am thinking this is another steam trick which they seem to be playing very often. Bad PC port???

this game works completely fine on windows 7, windows 10 just seems to have something new to upset it every day, so if I were to make a suggestion to those who continue to have issues, maybe try using windows 7 VM to play older games....

finished the game and the dlcs on win 10. no problems on my pc. havent played it on the April update though.

I have tried so many things, and at this point im burnt out. Prolly just gunna wait. Sent a thing detailing it all to MS. Maaaybe that will do something, doubt it tho. But if anybody has another suggestion than all the ones I have already tried, I would appreciate knowing it. I really love this game. Tho its been awhile since I played it.

There wont be any bug fixes the studio is out of bussiness.

the help that fixed it for me was just disabling like adim disabling TabletInputService. Then you can never tab out of the game or it will crash instently. Plus use a controller. The game will crash whenever I used keyboard and mouse. Plus keep the game in fullscreen mode. HOpe these tips will help.

ms changed the tabletinput service - havent had any game crashes in any games since win 10 april update. the tabletinput service now runs 24/7 - emoji keyboard uses it for one.

Playing on Windows 10 but not through steam. Not a single crash here. Maybe it has to do with Steam and Windows 10.

DO NOT BUY THIS WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! This game is broken when it comes to Windows 10. It is a shame that Steam keeps selling it. I have tried every fix that I have been able to find on the Internet, and the game will work for a short time before starting to crash out again. If I am lucky, I can get 20 minutes of gameplay out of it. Spend your money on something that works.

I never had a problem on windows 10, sort your PC out and take responsibility for it instead of misleading people. This one of the most crash free games i ever played.
