CTD in Adessa, Sandstone Villa
only when it fully upgraded and I sprint right from the door. If I walk slowly and reach the stairs then everything is fine and I could then sprint everywhere. It's the only place where game CTD.

Have not been able to find anything about this on the Internet. I guess it could be Bruten body that is still there even after many days and it looks like it got stuck in geometry, but I don't know. Has anyone seen this CTD?

Could also just be a memory issue caused from a full stash?

Where if you stop and wait 5 seconds before sprinting in game to allow the game to fully load that section first before asking it to respond to a super quick sprinting response.

Don't think so, the stash is around 2/3 empty - 57/155 and there's no CTD until villa is fully upgraded, sprinting or not. It's feels like last upgrade is trying to place something to where Bruten body got stuck and it takes time for game to push it aside or something. I guess upgrading villa quest will be the last quest I'll complete for this character.

Have you tried just waiting 5 - 10 seconds before doing the sprint in the villa and see if that allows the game to load properly without crashing?

Yeah, I have, still crashes.

So here is Bruten caught by the stairs geometry:

and here's what I've tried:

go in and immediately sprint inside villa for every upgrade step until last - no crash.

once the villa is fully upgraded, game crashes as soon as I sprint or run. If I stay still by the door it does not crash no matter how much time passes, but as soon as I sprint / run it crashes.

if I walk slowly and reach the stairs I can then sprint everywhere and the game does not crash.

if I then save anywhere inside, re-start the game and load my save the game crashes even if I try to walk but doesn't if I stay still or just move camera around.

I even tried to empty components and reagents thinking the game processes them somehow:

and it still CTD.

Sometimes, at any upgrade step, there're henchmen inside. I could kill them right away, or let them kill the healer first - this makes no difference, the game still crashes only when the villa is fully upgraded.

All very interesting ... thanks for all the research.

I never liked sandstone villa anyway ... with the gnome? designed long ramps wrapping around the home ... a real waste of space. For me it's the worst player home out of those available.
montengo Feb 21, 2019 @ 1:20am
gnomes, they... compensate... and show off. But yeah, the first home PC gets is the most convenient out of 6. Though home for my character is unimportant... where I fell - there is housewarming. I was interested in CTD or rather how to get rid of it, well, and wanted to close this task too.
Eternie Feb 21, 2019 @ 6:23am
I know I have upgraded the villa previously to a full extent and reasonably sure I had sprinted to get to the assassins ... without being aware of crashes. So perhaps the body position helps to cause the crashes.
In my current game still quite a long way from getting down to Adessa. otherwise I'd check if that happens to me though.

Try verifying game cache? Only thing I can think of is there is a corruption there.
montengo May 25, 2019 @ 6:15pm
Yeah.... no. No corruption. Just unfortunate to have this bug. Wanted to have this on teh Interents, for the record.
Eternie May 25, 2019 @ 7:14pm
I still think it has to do with either your computer or you corrupting a save somehow.
I have gone back to several different characters where I had access to Adessa and Sandstone villa and have NO crashes in the villa. Even went back before upgrading the villa and visited the villa with each upgrade ... can sprint at any time ... and usually do. No crashes.

So it's certainly something in your game to do with bruten not getting removed properly. I have no body of bruten left in my sandstone villa.

If it bothers you you could restart and actually kill Bruten near the Allestar Tower so that it's not him who attacks you in adessa.

The main purpose for my post was to get this out for the record; as my original Internet search didn't bring anything remotely relevant - as in, noone ever had this problem. At this point I'm not interested in solving the problem, I'm long done with this game. Although,, when I played, I did spend time... a lot of it, and tried many different things to resolve this glitch. - OCD. At the end this task was the last one for me. You posting that you never had this problem doesn't help or bring anything to this. I had this problem, you didn't. Nothing new here. Blaming my computer based on your experience is surely a way to go for some /s, but I'm not biting, and will do nothing to convince you or others of my experience. All the same.. this was posted to get this out, that's all.

Try making a new file and going to that location. It may be a save specific corruption

Posting here to say that I was having the same CTD problem. It didn't have anything to do with sprinting though. When the villa was fully upgraded I would get to about where Milo is walking and it would CTD every time. I tried various things to fix it (body placement of Bruten when he was killed, warping out of the city and sleeping, not having the upgrading task as the active quest) and finally figured it out.

What worked for me was...simply not activating the Widescreen Fixer. Seriously. Fully explored to loot and see the final upgrades with the horrid default FOV, and other than the henchman respawning, no issues. The second I activated Widescreen Fixer, it crashed. Very strange as I have not had a single problem with it until now. Anyway I hope that solves the mystery! Really enjoying the game so far.

It looks like you have widescreen fixer enabled on that screenshot, and I know for a fact Widescreen fixer causes some crashes here and there. Try running the game without Widescreen fixer toggled on and see if that fixes the crash.

Ran into exactly the same situation here.
No widescreen fixer, but I am playing at 2560x1080.
And it stops crashing after I changed the resolution to 1920x1080, thanks.
