How often does this go on sale?
I'm beyond interested in this game but I'm currently in the middle
of playing Divinity II: Developer's Cut, Risen and Sacred II, which
are really great RPGs and quite lengthy (I highly recommend them)
and so it's hard to justify spending even £8 on this.

However, it's a very good deal... I'm just wondering, does it sell for 75%
off often with the DLC, or will I be waiting a long time
before it goes on sale again?

Would you say to me, 'f*ck those other games dude, play Kingdom of
Amalur: Reckoning instead!'??? Is someone that's never played this
akin to someone that has yet to experience the majesty of TES: Skyrim?

Unthinkable and blasphemous, indeed, though you'd be surprised! :steammocking:

Pretty much guaranteed for every major Steam sale at this point on top of the occasional individual sales. If you aren't in that much of a hurry there are still the Autumn and Winter sales in the next couple of months.

It's extremely hard to find an RPG that can beat D2 nowadays. Going back in time and maybe you have Baldur's Gate(which technically is also D&D)?

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't played Baldur's Gate yet but I really enjoyed Fallout 1/2, so a lot of people have recommended it due to its similarities. Just haven't found the time yet. :steamsad:

From what I remember of Divinity 2: Ego Draconis, the game is takes a big spike in difficulty after you get the tower. You will either be built wrong or OP enough to lul through the rest of the game and be a literal god in the DLC. If I went back to it, I'd only want to do the first act again.
Risen is alright, a pretty smooth game, just a bit of a bland world. And Sacred 2 is good.
So, If I was picking one to drop, it would probably be Risen, just because Divinity is more unique and sometimes funny.
KoA has a large, beautiful, and interesting world. And the combat system feels good and is super stylish. The weird scaling system makes the game kind of easy in the last 3rd (or half if you choose to do the whole map in the same play through). It still feel good to slaughter everything though, which is an advantage over the Divinity. Is it better than Skyrim? Maybe, I mean it's not a half functioning mess with jank combat, but it has a bit less freedom. You end up being OP late game in that too, I guess its a common issue.

This game is brilliant, with one fatal flaw...area level scaling as everyone knows. So as you said its easy to become OP. Only solution is to do all the missions in an area first which will become progressively easier, and thats ok to show your characters growth. Just dont, for any reason wander the map entering new regions until you have completed ALL missions in 1 area.

I'm not sure yet and I haven't played enough of it to come to any conclusions but I was beginning to feel like Risen could be one of the best RPGs I've played.

The soundtrack is great, the combat is at least somewhat more complex and satisfying compared to Skyrim's, there seems to be multiple paths to take, it's seemingly quite realistic, for example, you get told off if you're seen entering someone's house and right at the beginning you can return to your lady friend and tell her what you saw, yet you're not told to do that and it's completely optional. Still, if I was Risen guy, I'd probably go back and let her know about the people up the road.

Some games don't even bother with such little details but it does add a massive layer of realism/immersion. Don't forget the ability to sit down in a chair or see your character actually laying down on a bed, instead of seeing a black screen. That's some next gen sh*t right there!

All have their pros and cons tbf. I haven't played every RPG in existence so can't say if there exists one that is flawless and combines all the best bits from all the greatest RPGs to date.

Definitely agree on Divinity being unique/funny. That's what I love about it. :steamhappy:

Snipers:

Compared to Gothic (Risen's predecessor) its definitely their best game. It's all just kind of low steaks, quest are pretty mundane and most of the dungeons are optional and very out of the way. Honestly why does nobody have some dungeon demon for me to slay, is sweeping the school more important?... I'd still check out Gothic 2 though, its the fan favorite, but boy is the combat weird.
Honestly almost every open world ARPG falls into this "Euro Jank Genre" so, I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing any of them. My personal favorite is "The Witcher" franchise, with only the 3rd one being a completely solid experience. As far a classic RPG's go I really enjoyed "Pillars of Eternity".
The Divinity franchise does a lot of experimentation, you should check out some of the others if you haven't yet. Divine Divinity is a Diablo like with a persistent open world, Beyond is that with a new party system, Dragon Commander is an RTS RPG + Dragon mode from D2. And they somehow managed to tie them all together story wise.

Edit: I should have mentioned "Outward". It takes everything thing that I enjoyed about Gothic/Risen, adds in some of Skyrim's frost fall mod, and takes the preparation aspect of The Witcher and merges them into a pretty nice game. It has pretty seamless split screen too. I never got to finish it because my coop partner got fed up with the survival mechanics, but every session was such an adventure!

Kingdoms of Amalur is well worth a play. 200 hours of game easy.
Check Greedfall out too when you've got some disposable income. Single player games are coming back big time.
I bought this game 2x full price and a 3rd for $15. you def get your moneys worth. Don't buy the weapon dlc, but the story dlc are worth it. It does go on sale from time to time. I would still pay $20-$40 for it now.

I already have this on steam, but I am also thinking of getting the Xbox 360 version for my Xbox One via back compatibility as well partly for the achievements. It is currently on sale there for $4.99.
