EA cannot hire developers to change the game coding without ownership of the IP, THQ Nordic cannot re-code the game and publish it again without ownership of the publishing rights. So until EA lets og of the exclusive right to publish the game, and THQ Noedic holds exclusive rights to develop the game, it is at a stnad-still. One or the other or both must reach an agreement on rights, or sell the rights to the other company. And I don;t see either EA or THQ Nordic being willing to let go easily.
I suspect this game will stay stalled, while THQ Nordic looks into re-opening development of Project Copernicus.
I would be all over a sequel to this. Game is beautiful.
edit: just looked it up and it was Rhode Island. AFAIK, Rhode Island still owns the game. Perhaps we could petition them for a sequel! lol
On the other hand, we haven't heard any sort of news or update related to KoA since last September probably becuz KoA isn't a priority project for THQ Nordic at the moment. It often takes years before a multi-million dollar project gets the green light, and the only option we all have here is to wait patiently.
Nope. THQ Nordic bought it off Rhode Island State last September already.
Turns out all he wrote about Amalur was in this game. A pity.
Having had such a bad experience working with the gaming industry, I doubt Salvatore is about to engage in a similar contract soon. His books sell pretty well in general so he has all the time he's got.
I really hope someone eventually makes a sequel for this using at least part of the original team, they made a great game!!
My understanding about this game, since it was planned to be an mmo, there is a whole design bible. Theres a massive amount of story and history already layed out. So its possible THQ could avoid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up, but . . . Darksiders 3.
you're exactly correct on that assessment, darksiders 3 is really disgusting, I hope they can get their act together soon
