why are there no sequels to this game?
This is one of the best games I've ever played, why there's no sequels?

Isn't this an EA game? I have to make an EA account to enter and it's not going past that point

ea published it but I think (or thought) the steam version is separate from the origin version. guess it still needs to phone home to ea then.

NO, you do NOT need to make an EA account, See your other thread. That was only required for playing on the EA.Origin client. Since the studio who developed the game went under, there is no one to change the code in the game to remove it, and EA isn't about to change it now that THQ Nordic bought the IP, h while EA still holds publishing rights.
EA cannot hire developers to change the game coding without ownership of the IP, THQ Nordic cannot re-code the game and publish it again without ownership of the publishing rights. So until EA lets og of the exclusive right to publish the game, and THQ Noedic holds exclusive rights to develop the game, it is at a stnad-still. One or the other or both must reach an agreement on rights, or sell the rights to the other company. And I don;t see either EA or THQ Nordic being willing to let go easily.

I suspect this game will stay stalled, while THQ Nordic looks into re-opening development of Project Copernicus.

They were planning on another game and I think an MMO but there were legal issues or some crap.

Just bought it again on sale. I think this is for the third time. Scratch that, the second. The first time was renting it too many times from a video store. Haven't played it since X360. Been waiting for the sale for a long time.

I would be all over a sequel to this. Game is beautiful.

Some sort of really weird court battle happened with this game. I think the IP even is, or was, the property of one of the northeastern states; like New Hampshire or Rhode Island or one of them; I can't remember.

edit: just looked it up and it was Rhode Island. AFAIK, Rhode Island still owns the game. Perhaps we could petition them for a sequel! lol

If I ain't mistaken, EA currently hold only the rights of publishing and possibly the retail rights of the original KoAR so they shouldn't have a say in matters related to the rest of the potential KoA franchise. So yes, there won't be a KoAR remake/remastered version anytime soon as suggested above.

On the other hand, we haven't heard any sort of news or update related to KoA since last September probably becuz KoA isn't a priority project for THQ Nordic at the moment. It often takes years before a multi-million dollar project gets the green light, and the only option we all have here is to wait patiently.

Nope. THQ Nordic bought it off Rhode Island State last September already.

Hmmm, so a sequel is a real possibility, then? That would be cool.

I liked the game so much I looked in vain for any SF/F related to it by R.A. Salvatore.

Turns out all he wrote about Amalur was in this game. A pity.

Technically Curt Schilling still owed RA Salvatore $2 millions for the work on KoAR but he was willing to be the good guy and let that go, not that Schilling could even pay up just a tenth of this amount after filling for bankruptcy anyway.

Having had such a bad experience working with the gaming industry, I doubt Salvatore is about to engage in a similar contract soon. His books sell pretty well in general so he has all the time he's got.

I am going to replay this on my 36" ultra wide screen in the next days, game still looks great, it's like fable 1 and 2 but with 10 times more content.

I really hope someone eventually makes a sequel for this using at least part of the original team, they made a great game!!

There is no way THQ is going to do the game ANY justice. Look at how they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up Darksiders 3. Its a step and a half down from part 2. Its basicly back to the simplicity of part 1.
My understanding about this game, since it was planned to be an mmo, there is a whole design bible. Theres a massive amount of story and history already layed out. So its possible THQ could avoid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up, but . . . Darksiders 3.

you're exactly correct on that assessment, darksiders 3 is really disgusting, I hope they can get their act together soon

Sadly, this game came out when WoW was at an all time peak. Everyone compared this to a single-player wow, and it got buried pretty quick. I loved this game when it came out, I hope we get to see more of it.
