very under rated game for all it offers

i always like this game quite a lot ever since it was release. i seen it share of fails with its rep. quests layout that copies old mmo and it does tend to drag on a bit on its lore/talking.. but aside from that its actually quite good for what it does and is... in the end this game was look over by many due to not getting much attention and reviews.. which is a shame..

Based purely on what I've read, the reason its layout seems "MMO-ish" is because it started out that way. Not sure if that's the truth, but it may be a factor.

Timing was a huge factor in the reason KoA never received the attention it deserves. Releasing the game when Skyrim had been released only a few months earlier? Yeah, that's just asking for it. If only...

To be fair, it sold over a million copies in a month. That's pretty damn good for what was a new IP at the time. The problem is that they poorly managed their funds and went way overbudget, to the point where 1 million copies sold didn't cover the costs much at all. It nearly bankrupted Rhode Island, due to them putting a lot of funds into the game.

I think the reason THQ Nordic bought the rights is because of how well it did sell, in spite of its immense costs. This is probably why we'll see a remake, since it's cheaper to remake the game then it is to make full-on sequel or new game at this point.

I believe you're mistaken on that. Oblivion was released in 2006, while Skyrim was released late in 2011. Kingdoms of Amalur was released in February of 2012.

most remasters are just pc version that are tweaked with some small changes.
