Use Gems

I have picked up many gems along the way, but if I try to craft something they never appear among the gem I can install. Only one I made show for for crafting.
Any idea as to why they can't be use. Black Smith and Sage craft are both maxesd

The gem you gather are ingredients to create socket'able gems.(trough the Sagecrafting altar)

Considering what you said and having max'd both Sagecrafting and Blacksmithing, i'll state the obvious as well--'

Make sure you create the right set of gems, there's 4 type;
-Weapons and Armor are quite obvious
-Utility is only for your clothing
-Epic gems are for the Chest piece exclusively
By comparing the shape of the gems and sockets, you can tell what your items can or cannot hold, usually for exemple, leggings/gloves/boots can hold anywhere from 1-3 Gems, 3 being 2 Utility/1 Armor.

You can also use the according gems for forging Master equipment.... but let's not get too much ahead, unless you're game aint bugged.... Gems are used as 5th ingredients in blacksmithing.

The reason you can only see the gems you've made is that you haven't been finding any actual gems. Instead, you've been finding the gem SHARDS. Gem drops aren't affected by Sagecrafting skill. It's entirely independent of that skill, and is based primarily on RNG depending on a bunch of different factors. In terms of loot drops, the only thing that Sagecraft affects is how frequently you find good gem shards.

I found three actual gems along the way, not shards. The problem I found out is that they are for weapons. Using two Chakrams that use Utility gem not Weapon gems. Have seven of each of all pristine shards except Magic. Have used all I had . No Epics yet, can't decide what I want.

Well then, there are two possible solutions. Either find Chakrams that use weapon gems, or get your Blacksmithing skill up to level 7 and then use those gems as a smithing component.

A third solution---Sell. Black smithing and Sage craft Maxed. A fourth, get a Staff to use instead of two Chakrams, might do that as so far few higher level Fire Chakram are few.
