Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning™

Any tips on what to keep and what can be sold?
I've had this game for years and I'm always running out of inventory space. Is there some way of knowing what's important and what can be sold? I have a lot of books, reagents, and crafting materials, but I haven't found a place to store them, so they are all just sitting in my inventory taking up space.

Besides uniquely named items, I don't think there's anything that you can't sell and find later.

And, considering that items are leveled, there's really no reason to keep older items, even if unique (besides looking cool while equipping them).

So, I guess keep reagents/crystals/whatever that you 'll think you'll want to craft equipment later on. That's about it, really.
You can store items in your stash in the various houses that you get at the end of some quests. (The house in Canneroc, Aron Excavations after you finish that quest etc). The key to the Sandstone Villa is given to you when you enter Adessa and you can use that stash right away.

There are backpacks you can buy to increase the inventory space.

As far as I can tell the reagents and crafting materials don't count towards the inventory limit, but books do.
Where can you buy backpacks? Not found any yet in 30+ hours of play, but probably not really playing attention...
There's one for sale in the very first town...
Only certain vendors sell backpacks

Rikka Egest in Gorhart
Riona Helt in the Asker's Alley tavern in Ysa
Wil Donall in the main Scholia Arcana hall in the upper part of Rathir
Senecer Macit in the Domus Politica in Adessa
Illyn Doldran in Mel Senshir

If you have the Teeth of Naros DLC
Ampelio in Idylla Market

Not so sure if it's working on Steam version, but there is a nice trick to get infinite backpacks, which should solve most of the problems with storing space. All you need is acces to Illyn Doldran trader in Mel Senshir. Buy a backpack from him, kill him, pay the fine and then go to any of your houses (I used Canneroc), and sleep there for 3-4 days in a row. When you get back to Mel Senshir after that, trader should be alive, selling backpack again. So, you can repeat as many times as you need. Although better save before trying it, I would check myself, but there is still a long way to go for me till Mel Senshir. Good luck.)
Besides your inventory and stash, there's a third way to store items: merchants.

If I remember correctly, a merchant will always keep the 50 most recent items you sold to him, even after a stock renewal. Merchants can therefore be used as mules.
Use your cheapest items to avoid losing too much gold when buying back the items later on.
The cheat tip Imriss mentions works just fine in any version of the game.

1; Save Game, quicksave, whatever.
2; Buy a backpack from Illyn Doldran in Mel Senshir
3; Exit conversation, go Agressive, kill him
4; Teleport out immediately. go to any rest area or house and sleep 4 days.
4.5; (optional) don't teleport out, let them arrest you and spend four days in jail for free, losing a bit of Experience [but never deleveling]
5; return to Mel Senshir and buy another backpack from Illyn Doldran
6; (optional) back out before buying the new backpack and quicksve again.
7; (optional) repeat as much as you like. I like to have 200 inventory slots, myself.
