Game Crashing

the game keeps crashing after about 5 minutes of game play. i play doom and shadows of mordor and those games are way more demading of my computer. any suggestions?

if it is crashing, should be an entry in the windows event log. hopefully there will be an event item with crashing dll and eventid.

if you game is crashing it may be because of the steam overlay. Thats what my log in eventviewer was pointing to. To get my game working I had to go to gamecopyworld its a site that has various cracked .exe or trainer programs for games. I do not suggest getting any thing illegal but for the sake of getting this game to run because even turning off the steam overlay settings did not seem to fix it for me.

so back to what i was saying i went to gamecopyworld just google it steam doesnt like posted links from their. look up the game under the k's and once your on the page for the game under a part that says game fixes youll see one called Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning: Legend of Dead Kel v1.0.0.2 [MULTI5] Fixed Files. its a skid row crack just extract the winrar file into the local game folder in steam apps and choose to replace the files. boom bam and bing you can run the game like normal through steam and it works fine.

however I would not reccomend trying to use reshade or enb series after the game is working I tried it after it was working for me and I guess the overlay from reshade for the menu the game was back to not even running.

hope this helps and people I do not condone any illegal activity. This rare occasion is for the sake of getting this awesome gem to run on a newer machine.

This helped me and i hope it helps you. side note my antivirus did not pick anything up from the skid row crack however if you download one of the other fixes from gamecopy world my antivirus did pick it up as a adware why i have no clue but ehh didnt bother dissecting the file to figure out why.

Would turning off the steam overlay for this game work just as well?

I tried but it didnt work out for me. I can only assume that even with the overlay turned off it was some how still affecting it. Now if it helps I only turned off the overlay from right clicking on the game on steam and hitting properties. if it helps you may wanna try from the actuall settings under the steam tab

brb verifying game files thus breaking the game again and ill see if that works didnt think of that. My only tiff would be having to re-enable the steamoverlay setting when you go to play other games.

Unless I'm not understanding correctly you can turn off the overlay per game basis. But if it's still not helping this game out regardless then your solution is best so far.

Btw, does this only affect the DLC or main game also? I have played 2 hours and had no crashes on Win 10 and no problem with steam overlay but I have not tried to use it once in game.

EDIT: I don't have any DLC yet also.

the fix i'd assume affects the game as im playing the main story. I can only assume it affects the dlc as well because I bought the whole shooting match. Also if your game is working I probably would not tinker with it lol. I tried deleting those files and re validating the game and now i only get the infinite looping of steam saying its starting my game. So i re extracted the crack and threw it back in my game folder replaced the files and it works again. Why exactly I have no clue. Event view pointed to steam overlay as the cause to the crash and only thing i could figure out is cracking the game to get it running.

also thank you I found out what worked for me so hopefully itll work for other people.

I did some research. What I've read is that the game crashes because it is unable to load "Xaudio2_7.dll". The forums I've read state that the service "TabletInputService" is the reason this is happening. The fix they came up with was

Open Task Manager > Go To Services > Disable "TabletInputService"

I have yet to verify if this works, I can however verify that my game has been crashing due to Xaudio2_7.dll not loading.

EDIT: You can also go to your Start search, search "Services" find "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting panel Service" and disable that. Change its properties so it doesn't come back on start up of PC

Update: I have been playing for about an hour after disabling the service and so far have not crashed. Will update again.

Update: Another hour has gone by and everything seems fine. I'm under the impression this fix works.

I saw that as well but I sadly had already disabled the service way way back. I even went as far as going into the system32 folder and renaming the Xaudio2_7.dll as old. then proceeded with a reboot no luck. howevery though lol i read that if eventviewer didnt point to xaudio2_7 that this probably wasnt your fix.

I was super desperate and tried it anyways and even going above and beyond. cracking the games exe to break its tie with steam was the only way It fixed for me. Sadly I cant go back either to see if disabling steam overlay entirely from steam settings would fix it.

However im happy that now the game works and I can still enjoy the steam overlay in my other games because turning it off just on a game by game basis through the game properties under library didnt work for me.

I've tried all of the above with no luck, except for disabling "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting panel Service". I'm going to try that now........and it worked!

Go to task manager and end task someone like 'Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service'
and it should work.
