Dr Pepper promotional items?
Some of you certainly know about the promotional items related to pre-orders (fate weapons, destinies and ultimate treasure hunter pack) and the ones that can be unlocked by playing Reckoning Demo or Mass Effect Demo.

Reckoning has one additional (and functional) promotion named Dr. Pepper Pack.

Apparently abandoned, this promotion gives the following items:
- Infernal Helm (can also be gotten by coming Reckoning Demo)
- Twinned Souls (can be gotten by completing Reckoning Demo too)
- Spinning Tom's Anvil (Finesse Shield)
- 5 elixirs of Inspiration (potions that gives 500 xp each)

I've been unable to find any information on the web about this promotion but the official forums went down way before I've discovered this game. Does anyone remember if the devs ever mentioned something about a Dr Pepper promotion ?

You're talking about something that is from 5 years ago. Chance is it no longer exists too?

I know it doesn't exist. I mentioned this promotion was probably never made available. I already know how to get these items.

To rephrase it with different words. In the resource files, the game has a set of 5 functions to give promotional items to your character, the functions are named:
- Dowsing Rod
- Fate-touched pack
- Destinies Pack
- Mass Effect Pack
- Dr. Pepper Pack (gives the items mentioned above)

The first 4 functions are related to well known promotions we can find information on the web. However, there's nothing about the Dr Pepper Pack and I was wondering if the devs mentioned something in the past.
I'm asking because I'm consolidating information to build a fansite.

have you recieved
- Dowsing Rod
- Fate-touched pack
- Destinies Pack
- Mass Effect Pack
through steam ?

No. these are functions encoded in the game resource files, made to give the related items to the player through the dev cheat mode menu.

The first 3 pack were bonuses for pre-ordering the game from some partner re-sellers. They are obviously not available anymore. However, I've seen some DLC codes on sell in ebay.

You can get the Mass Effect items by purchasing the game new (for Shepard's set) and playing Mass Effect 3 demo (for Omniblade daggers).

Dr Pepper pack is a mystery. It was abandoned but maybe devs said something aboutt it before.

Dr Pepper pack was a US promo, where Steam keys for the DLC were printed on Dr Pepper soft drinks. There are a few games that "promoted" DLC like that on Dr Pepper drinks back then.

ok, things are now clearer. Reckoning was initially supposed to have a Dr Pepper related promotion, like some other EA games but this was later abandoned. Maybe because the release of Reckoning was delayed and the partnership between EA and Dr Pepper ended? I don't know.

Afterwards, the devs added some of the Dr Pepper's items (Infernal Helm and Twinned Souls) as unlockable items for playing Reckoning demo.
Originally, playing Reckoning demo wasn't supposed to unlock Reckoning items (it was only supposed to give items for Mass Effect 3). This is why the dev cheat mode menu doesn't have any promotion related to the demo:

To reinforce this fact, the fire effect on the "Infernal Helm" item is internally named "Dr. Pepper Helmet Buff" in the game files.

Another side note on promotions: I noticed the "Mass Effect Pack" function gives both Shepard armor set and Omniblades daggers, while the Shepard armor set is gained by purchasing the game new and the Omniblades daggers by playing Mass Effect 3 demo.

It appears that the Shepard armor set was initially supposed to be gained by playing ME3 demo. The following link on EA confirms this info:
http://www2.ea.com/ca/news/38-studios-summons-a-demo-for-kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning-and-unveils-exclusive-mass-effect-3-bonuses
By playing the upcoming Mass Effect 3 demo, fans will unlock the following items for Reckoning when the game launches on February 7, inspired by Mass Effect:

N7 Armor: Players can unlock special armor inspired by Commander Shepard’s iconic N7 battle armor including Helm, Cuirass, Gauntlets, Chausses and Greaves.
Onmiblade Daggers: A holographic blade stemming from Commander Shepard’s Omni-Tool, the Omni-blade allows players to stab enemies in close combat. Once players install and play the Mass Effect 3 demo, they will unlock the daggers.
Now, it might also mean that someone who purchased a used copy can still unlock the Shepard armor set by playing ME3 demo? Who knows...

Operating on the assumption that's it not fake- the poster claims to have reverse engineered a Debug Mode for the game. My guess is he/she hex edited the executable, but who knows as they steadfastly refuse to share this information with the community.
