Grim Reaper in Castlevania
I finally killed him with the holy cross and my trusty whip.

As a kid I could never advance past this part, this boss was a brick wall for me and I just used to get frustrated and quit. It's new and uncharted territory from here on out.

Take that young version of me, the old version has one upped ya! HA

What a great feeling to have finally done it 32 years later.

Congrats!
FYI Holy Water completely demolishes pretty much every boss (and the entire game, really).

Yeah congrats. The Grim Reaper is a very tough boss and heck even the final room leading up to him is total chaos.

Totally agree it really took time for me to actually just get to the boss with full health . I did make a save though just before the fight when I had full health so that helped.

Its even more painful if you beat him with no sub weapons. I did it once and want to never do it again.

Oh I can only imagine that would be a nightmare.

It took hours and yes I did save before the boss fight. I found a weird glitch or something that took off several bars of health, but I never figured out how it worked.

:Trophy2: Well done though. I kept telling myself if I can clear Celeste (and that nearly drove me mad in a good way) then I can do this :)

Good job mate. Even if you save before hand, the bosses in this game are still quite tough.

Now the original Castlevania is kind of like Mega Man 1 for me, in that it is getting easier to beat.

Castlevania 1 is easy compared to some other certain NES games, but its still difficult. Good job! Dracula is so much easier than the grim reaper. It should be smooth sailing ahead.

That is excellent news indeed.

I hear Castlevania 3 is even harder? I never played part 3 sadly as a child.

Castlevania 3 assumes you have mastered Castlevania 1. It is kind of like Ninja Gaiden 3, expect you have unlimited continues. The Japanese get a easier experience though.

Cool I look forward to it

The stages are longer, harder, and much more unfair. Stage 1 introduces you to all of Cv1s most annoying enemies and stairs.
