Report a translation problem
You may want to review this dissection of each version of Seal of the Curse/Simon's Quest before making such a statement:

The comments in the dialog sections explain any butcherings in the cart version, which the retranslation fixes. There are some differences in text which are just fine in the vanilla cart, such as the ferryman, but not all. A few in the floppy version make just as much sense.
Having understandable statements vs gibberish
You misunderstand my point. My point is that there are superior versions of Castlevania II to play made by fans, so why would I play this re-release? With romhacks, I can play Castlevania II retranslated with proper instructions, transitions, and it's uncensored. I can play Castlevania III and IV uncensored. So why bother with this half-assed official version when there are superior unofficial versions?
You could say the translations and censorship don't matter that much to the games themselves, and sure, that's true. But even if they aren't big flaws, they're objective flaws that have been fixed by fans for free. If Konami wants people to buy these games from them, then they should have fixed them. There should have been some barebones effort put in if I'm gonna pay 20 bucks for a bunch of 90 minute games from the 1980s. Personally, I prefer having the official versions of games when I can, but not if the official versions are obviously and objectively inferior to the unofficial ones.
