Is the game in a good state now?
I got it at launch and wanted to love it but it was rough. Is it comparable to BB2 yet in terms of features/stability?

PvP yes, but with fewer teams (and different teams in some cases since the tabletop rules also changed since BB2).

PvE, not yet. Many players are waiting for "Eternal League" in Season 8: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1016950/view/505062580159514550?l=english

Does this mean that the AI has improved to a point where this type of game mode will be fun?

Not yet for most players. There has been some talk of improved AI in Season 8 or later.
Among other things you may find more recent information regarding state of game here:

There are a lot of discussions in details, but most of the players are fine with todays performance of BB3 (it's still improving slowly).
If you are picking it up on a Sale, sure. There's nothing 'wrong' with it. A lot of the stuff you can do makes the UI almost impossible to see or notice on your end, things aren't intuitive in the slightest, and sometimes it takes 5-6 clicks to try and get it to do what you're telling it to do on your turn, but it is still Blood Bowl. So, if you like Blood Bowl, you'll be fine with this game...

IMO, it lacks enough of the teams to make Leagues worth it (because we can just play elsewhere with all the teams) and perpetual ladders are just Bash-Fests that favor restarting bash teams until you get a good first few matches, and then riding the higher AV all the way up the ladder, but if you don't care about that stuff... It is fine.

In the final rankings for season 6 Dark Elf teams were 2nd, 7th, 9th, and 10th.

Anyone that played BB3 in Season 6 can see the above stats in Manager (Your Name Here) > History.

(Not trying to start an argument about this. I was surprised to see Dark Elves do so well. Even through Dark Elves are a Tier 1 team, the data counters my own vibes and assumptions.)
The Developers have been asleep at the wheel for pve. No changes made to make the game a better experience for single players. I wish I had returned it. I thought the Devs would have made the adjustments. I have installed and unistalled three times to see if any progress has taken place. None still the same ♥♥♥♥.

Good news: the Eternal League PvE update is expected in Season 8 in about 33 days, and the beta started on PC this week.

Just waiting on eternal league here. Last played this game in June 2023 when the entire player base collapsed leaving only skilled PVP players facing me, a new player.

Games were not "Fun"

Skully, If you can stick with it, Keep playing Real people. When you're able to compete with them the game is on a whole new level.

Only thing to gripe about now is really just teams not being in. That takes time, nothing to cheat that tbh. Other than that I think it's in a good way.

It's a digital table top game, so I think it's natural that the focus is on MP. That said, the official leagues are a lot of fun.

Norsca Arena is a very good game mode.
