If this player is nominated to be the kicking player during a kick-off, you may choose to halve the result of the D6 to determine the number of squares that the ball deviates, rounding any fractions down.
"
In my experience Blood Bowl 3 Season 5 matches the above when my Kick player is automatically chosen. I haven't tried to manually choose a player that doesn't have Kick.
Kicked balls *always* scatter off the chosen square. The Kick skill just lessens the scatter distance.
(Note that in earlier seasons, BB3 would pick the first player in the roster that was in a valid position and use that player as the kicker. That was changed to always pick a player with the Kick skill, where possible.)
I think i know whats going on, normally without kick you dont see the targeted square, only the final square. I think that whats confusing me here. I will check that.
Agreed on all points! :-)
Kick has no effect on the direction d8 roll, or the d6 rolled for distance. You have, and always only had two choices - let it go where the two dice scatter it from your selection, or halve the distance. The game shows the possible scatter squares when your'e selecting the destination square, then shows you your two choices.
Sometimes you want to NOT halve the result. Having the zone be 3x3 was always misleading.
