Major Flaws of Bloodbowl
Hi,

I tried to play Bloodbowl again and have to say that it is just not funny that this game can make me that frustrated.

It aint really the fact that you have to have real luck for a League-Player to pick a ball up, no, it is the fact that your players, that are crucial to the game, got just no armor. The stats on the armor is as you would play in a junior-league but with grown men.

A knee-tall Critter can kick your balls out and he will. Strength is not worth anything as well because you can simply throw for two bad dices and if you loose, well your worst player gets beaten, not a loss. Human players are simply too fragile.

Which means you probably will loose players the first few turns, while you try to pick up a ball and think why don't you have smaller players that do not have to reach so far to the ground to pick up a ball. It is just no fun.

Human players in any team are really the worst, no armor, no strength, no talent. Some of them got the durability and the talent of a goblin, which says a lot. This is just no fun. And playing some of the destruction-teams is just no fun for me either.

So I can't play this game because my mental health is worth alot more to me and Games Workshop wont change this game, I guess. But I like the Artwork and Warhammer! So I wait for maybe a second Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, the best Warhammer-Game ever! Damn critters, have fun.

Edit20.11.23:

Hi, just thanks for the heads up there.

I got over 500 hours of playtime in Bloodbowl 3 now and around 700 hours on Bloodbowl 2.

I'm maybe just tired of loosing built up players without any effect, loosing players that I just bought and loosing those players nowadays to just cannonfodder of Vermin flooding the field each and every turn on so many matches.

I really like creating heroes and had some really epic moments, especially when Halflings turn the match at the last turn by being heroic Kamikaze-Halflings. But that did not really comphensate the amount of frustrating moments where my Humans, Dwarfs, Lizardmen and Treemen got beaten up and murdered by little critters fouling like there is no morning.

I have no power left in me to create another team to fall for more creepy diceroll-matches where I can just maneuver as long as I don't throw a dice and watch all those who should fall to low Armor make my team disapear with my medium Armor without taking any injury. It might be luck, but it is just an frustrating time for me.

And that is the most important point of it all. I'm playing like an half hour to an hour a match. If this time is filled with frustrating moments, which are the most parts in my experience, then no matter how I like the artwork and immersion, I'm having not enough fun in regard of the time I'm investing.

I mean, if at least the fallen Champs would get some recognition, so that a team feels like it had a history, but no... In the end, your team looks like a brand new one with some weird veterans who can't pick up a ball. I really don't like that picking up a ball with nobody around is kind of a skill, when you just stand next to it.

So, I have to remind myself each time I get the urge to join the game what lies before me. A bunch of horned hard hitting and too-ugly-to-hit Chaos-Players, Orks (well, nothing to complain here), Dark-Elves (well, whatever), One-Turn-Touchdown-Rats and the most hated newly brought in I-Can-Do-Whatever-I-Like Underworld-Vermin.

Had some fun time, but even when it is all going too well for me I feel bad for the opponent having a crushing time every moment they try and fail in a row. I'm just not badass enough, I guess, and that's ok.

Have fun! :mgoat::handhorns:

Blood Bowl is not for everyone. But there are players who love it.

Probably Destruction-Teams or dwarves who are too stubborn to give up. :mgoat: I hate to leave this game behind, but I can't get my strategy on if that much goes wrong playing as human toddlers.

If you decide to play this game ever again, I can recommend the guides of Andydavo!

We're actually not talking about BB3. WakWak has a problem with the dice and randomness of the game.

Sadly. The Humor is great, but the humor of the dices is toxic. So, either the dices change or the stats or I have to get out of this relationship. :MMWhataday: I'm taking the kids to my mother's house in the meantime.

LOL Good luck. But it's not as random as you think. It's about managing risk. Most games aren't determined by dice but how good the coach is. That is why you will see certain people at the top.. They are the better players. But like I said this game isn't for everyone.

I've introduced a lot of new players to the game, and they're fine until the grief starts. Losing players is part of the game, and part of your challenge as a manager. Add in the randomness, and it is definitely not for everyone.

What Splinter said is very true. The core of the game is managing risk correctly. Sometimes a very risky action succeeds, sometimes a very easy action fails.

If that can make you feel any better WakWak, everyone who has played this game for a significant amount of time has felt angry about that at some point or another. It can be a frustrating game, but for what it's worth, personally I also can't think of a game that made me feel such a rush of joy when things went my way.

Also, I don't know how experienced you are with the game OP, but if you're a beginner or you haven't played in a very long time, humans are actually a relatively tricky team to play in the long run. You will have to deal with teams who are faster and teams who are stronger, and teams that do a bit of both quite well too. You could play a bunch of games with other teams to get your sea legs back and then get back to humans, if that's the team that works for you.

Everything you are complaining about, is what has made it popular for the last 30+ years. Maybe this is not the right game for you.

You have selfreflection, you tried something new and found out, it's not your cup of tea. Bloodbowl has some blood before there is that bowl. Hope you find what you are looking for in your next adventure.

Well claw will always be a think unless gm choose somehow to get ride of it or they nerf mb to no longer work on injury and only armor , something that would be interesting to me is if they change defensive to be a strenght skill instead of agility , this would force the player a choice.

orks is orks and will always be a bash team

you can prevent one tuner rat with your defensive formation and underworld are just straight busted and should be nerf , they should have never been release in that stat imo.

Brother, with all due respect to your choice to take a hiatus, it sounds to me like you're burnt out on a game that you love. 500h on BB3 is a lot of time since the game came out, after all. And yes, agreed, Underworld in its current state is stupid.

Have you tried playing the game in a private league setting ?
