Worth it right now?
There have been negative to mixed reviews since BB3 came out, but I've seen a mix of it being about in game purchases and actual bugs. I'm just wanting to get it so I can play more Blood Bowl. It just takes quite a bit of time for me to get a game in BB2. I'm not really interested in cosmetics or battle passes.

You already missed out on a lot of what you could of had for what you can have in the future with development. So lets say I got free apology warp stone and free lizards but had to play the game without some features that BB2 had. You will jump in at some point maybe and have those things but so will I. You will not have a lot of what I already have though.

So in my opinion it was worth it to buy the game when it was broken at launch and just take my lumps.

We play Bloodbowl 3, I have almost no complains and matches in the seasonal ladder are pretty quick to find, like almost instantly. :handhorns:

It depends how important player cosmetics, team statistics, replays and being able to re-hire journeymen - and, by extension, earned rotters - are for you. And that’s just off the top of my head

Like WakWak said above, BB3 player numbers have been higher than BB2 player numbers since June - in spite of all the hate, insults, complaints, and well-founded negative feedback.

See player numbers for yourself:

It's better now than it was in the first couple of month. Unless you want the new rules or have people you play with that have bb3 there is no real reason to buy this instead of bb2 to be honest. BB2 has much more content and is in a better state than this game is for much less money.

Yeah I kind of figured that. I have a habit of waiting several months-years and then buying games when they have a bad launch.

I was around day 1 at the launch of No Mans Sky and it was a disaster. Hindsight is 20/20. I didn't know No Mans Sky would turn it around and I had no idea I would of benefited some from apology warp stone and first blood pass being free in this game. It was a risk I took.

I'm a little more forgiving than most people because I don't buy into a lot of AAA nonsense so I don't feel as screwed over by that as much others probably do. I keep telling people to stay to the indie games for a reason. This games alright. Still has some game breaking bugs and missing features.

Worth is a subjective thing. If you want to play some games of Blood Bowl it serves the purpose. If you are bothered by a bug ruining an online match sometimes and want all the features from the last game like working leagues I would say it isn't ready for you yet.

Don't listen to the people that are overly negative or the ones who are overly positive because the answer is in the middle of those opinions. The game is good but still has some flaws for sure.

I do hate the idea of people buying into the game later just to miss out on the extra good just to avoid some of the bad. I would say that the people who were interested should of bought the game during season one and anyone after that might as well just never buy it.

As far as I can tell there is no reason to not just stick with Bloodbowl 2 unless you are the kind of person who wants to spend loads of money on DLC + is impressed by shiny graphics even though it's a turn-based boardgame and not an immersive rpg or fps.

Some people defend 3, I've not heard anyone explain why 2 is better than 3. Especially not on value. So maybe 3 is fine, maybe not, but 2 is at least as good and better value for money (except for graphics if that is your thing).

I just hate waiting 10+ minutes to get a game. I’m not in any local league or anything so I just join the general one with tons of people on it, and it still takes forever to get a game.

I'm not going to disagree with what you have said. I'm just curious how much you think a person like me has spent on DLC for Blood Bowl 3. I bought brutal edition and won't need to spend money on the Blood Pass for the next 2 seasons after this one that just started.

I can understand sticking with BB2. You have more teams and some features that BB3 hasn't gotten sorted out. I just don't understand why you think BB3 has a lot of expensive DLC. Although the longer people wait to buy BB3 the more the money argument can be made because instead of playing the seasons and getting the teams free you will end up having to pay for them if you want them. Lizards are now on that list of teams you will have to buy if you waited this long.

The game is a lot less buggy than it used to be. So it kinda depends what you are looking for.
Certainly don't buy it if you don't like the current teams. And 100% do not buy it if your main interests is customisation. (you have to spend warpstone to make your players not look identical. And 99% of cosmetics featured in trailers is unavailable)

The devs are generally unreliable, and anything you might want for the future is months or even years away. So pretty much the only thing this game got going for it, is the updated rules. Thats it.

So there’s not a selection of heads available like in 2? Customization isn’t too big of a priority for me, I just want a decent color selection and maybe a few alternate heads. But they’ll probably be wearing helmets most of the time anyway.

I mainly played orcs in BB2 and the goblins didn’t have that much good customization on that team, IMO. And the trolls didn’t have any at all.

Just to be clearer on the customization topic for folks who haven't played BB3 yet: BB3 customization of team colors/jerseys, coaches, pitch, dugout, dice, and ball is all better than BB2. (I'd argue *much* better, but some folks seem to think BB2 is amazing in this area.)

The player customization gripes many coaches have are:
  1. mutations don't affect player appearances
  2. cosmetics are locked behind in-game currency, or in-game playtime (but in-game playtime awards in-game currency per season and per coach ).

Not unless we play the game, or pay something. And some players seem angry about having to do either.
