I know how much you guys love maths
So, played a match with Lizardmen. Great, loved it. Won. Got 351XP for the Blood Pass. Cool. Look over and it's 1000XP total till next level. Now...
Being EXTREMELY optimistic/naive, and thinking it's going to stay at 1000XP per BP level, I only ever get to squeeze in ONE match per day - because, you know, adult life - and already I can see that it requires 3 WINS to reach a level in the Blood Pass, which looks to last 80 days (I am including today). So...
80 days = 80 matches.
1 BP level = 3 WINS (again, very optimistic)
That means, if I WIN EVERY SINGLE MATCH for 80 days, I will only EVER be able to rech level 26 on the Blood Pass.
That won't even get me the Cheerleaders, the Coach or the Stadium cosmetic.
I've already resigned myself to spending warpstone on teams I really want, but I am not giving Cyanide, or Nacon, or whoever a dime above that.

Are you playing single-player? People were reporting around 1300xp per match in online play.

:bb3stumble: Really? Huh, must have been because the other guy left halfway through the match. The game auto-conceded him after waiting out the 5 minute reconnect timer.

Can confirm something weird indeed. I played 1 Match in Singleplayer got around the 500 exp on the second to last Cup and on the last Cup I got around 1000 exp. I think the Exp awarded is scaling with the cup you are participating in single player right now.

They have stated XP will depend on length of match

Got about 1000xp per game for a full 16 turn, about 350xp per game for less than a full half-time. Seems about legit. (MP)

I played the first (non tutorial) campaign tournament. The first match gave something around 1k XP for the pass, and all subsequent games have been around the 500 xp mark. I did wonder if the first game had a boost on it or something.

Is there an enforced max concede limit in the official ladder at this point?

So your long "math" rant about XP was based on a single match that ended in concession mid-way through? Good to know.

If you got full XP for concession matches people would grind out 20 levels a day on short, abortive games.

Nope.

My starter campaign missions with a very underwhelming Lizardmen test team were getting me from 650ish to 900ish xp per full match, if that's of any use to anyone.

Those were all for full 16-turn matches, with scorelines ranging from 4-0 to 6-0 and 0 to 2 Casualties a piece (but fairly few blocks or dodges, a few hand-offs and no completions).

For anyone wondering why I bother mentioning those latter parts, I'll refer back to some of the pre-launch info we were given about how the Blood Pass would work:

All the main game modes (campaign, VS AI, official or private competitions, etc.) will allow you to gain Blood Pass XP, as all regular Blood Bowl actions in matches (passing, blocking, dodging, scoring) will grant Blood Pass XP.

They didn't say that all types of matches would earn the same amount of XP, just that all modes of play would allow you to earn XP, and so far that appears to be true.

Cryptic has also stated (as of yesterday) that they will not tell us specifically what earns us pass XP because they worry people will farm it without playing properly... which makes the whole system a bit sketchy. They could be assigning it randomly for all we know.

After playing several MP matches and quite a few AI matches, I pretty confident you get about the same XP from both. You definitely seem to get more from scoring more than 1 touchdown, and you appear to get some from injuring other players. I haven't really played as a passing team yet so not sure about completions. My dodging/bashing Lizardmen do seem to earn more than my less dodgy and bashy Imperial Nobility team though.

In a game where people concede as soon as they fail a roll? That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks

Yes, how horrible for people to be able to quickly get stuff unlocked.

So you moan about people conceding then want a mechanic that actively encourages conceding ... you haven't thought that one through have you?

Any thing that encourages conceding in MP is a bad thing. By making it so you level the BP more slowly by conceding, it actually encourages people to play a full game. In fact, in 6 MP matches since the season started, I have not had a single concede, even after players have died, been maimed etc.

Spare me the moral rhetoric. The only thing encouraged here is freemium ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in a not-free-to-play game. Any other "argument" is entirely irrelevant.

Moral rhetoric? Not wanting concedes to be encouraged is not a "moral" thing. It is as a gamer wanting to play full games. What you suggest would kill off MP altogether - it would only work if there are other severe penalties put in place to prevent conceding. You just want something for free with no effort, admit it. I'm not advocating the BP. But if they insist on having the BP, then I'd rather it done this way so it discourages concedes ruining the MP games.

I take it you are one of the people that is a prolific conceder?

Spare me your tears about "corporation bad". You got the BP for free so quit moaning. Conceding every game is bad, since the BP started, I've not had a single opponent concede meaning all games have gone full length and they have been great fun.
