Point of cheerleaders
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in the current ruleset the only (gameplay) impact of cheerleaders is to improve your chance to win a single Prayer to Nuffle if the Cheering Fans event is rolled on the kick-off table.

These Prayers to Nuffle are really underwhelming. A -1 MA given to a random player is unlikely to have any impact on the game and so is gaining Stab, the worst skill in the game.

No, you're correct and the same goes for assistant coaches. There's not much reason to have them on the team, maybe take one so you can bask in the glory of your shiny new lizardmen cheerleaders until you're bored of the cutscene. To be fair a couple of the prayers are quite nice but certainly no single role on the table is likely to have much of an impact on the match.

Right, thanks for the confirmation.

I like to have about 3 cheerleaders just because I like having them on the side of the pitch. They offer very little, sometimes I get an extra reroll from them which is nice, but usually nothing of importance. Most people don't bother with them as they bump up your TV, but I'm not a serious player so I don't really care about the extra TV from having three of them.

There are cases for assistant coaches - Halfling teams that rely on Master chef can use them well as they deny kickoff rerolls. In tournament play it can be good to take dedicated fans on slow teams that suffer horribly from pitch invasion and officious ref, in league it can be good for cash flow. Cheerleader is pretty much useless for all teams in all settings.

I wouldn't put dedicated fans in the same pile as assistant coaches and cheerleaders and Halflings aren't in the game are they? Even for them I'm not sure I'd buy them. What is it 50k, assuming no one takes assistant coaches, to guarantee I win the one-in-twelve shot at a single reroll for the drive? Meh, I can probably live without it.

I'm going to sound super pedantic, but we're all nerds here anyway... The kickoff table uses 2D6 rather that a D12. The odds to get the 7 required by Brilliant Coaching are 16,66% instead of one-in-twelve (8,33%). This means that the odds to get this event in a 3-drive game are 50%.

If you want to be pedantic, the odds are actually just over 42% in a three-drive game

Well, I do love a nice bit of pedantry gents and it's always good to be a bit better informed. I can manage single roll odds but odds across multiple rolls are well beyond me unfortunately. To be honest though I'm still lukewarm at best on the value of assistant coaches especially being that most likely even if I have none I have a 50:50 chance to get it anyway (assuming we don't tie).

Yeah they're only any good when you have money over in tournament play or are doing a very specific reroll denial thing
