Is it currently possible to create a custom league with AI teams?

Is it known if there will be some way like the eternal league of BB2?

I'm pretty sure you can do a custom AI league right now and I'd be surprised if there wasn't something like the eternal league eventually down the line although I don't think there has been any official word. I would however say that if you're only interested in single player the AI is very poor at the moment and your options are limited. I know it's always been a walkover and that BB in particular is a really difficult game to script an AI for but I hear a lot of talk that it's worse than it was in BB2.

I managed to create the league, and when I create the competition it doesn't let me add AI teams, it always gives me a connection error or it simply doesn't load the value of the team to be able to add it

It's totally possible, I must point something out tho, in case you own bb2 and are evaluating buying bb3 for the single player modes only (like I did, I don't play multi):
the AI it's WAY worse compared to BB2, they take an insane amount of unnecessary risks, I didn't see a single passage and sometimes they don't seems to bother at all about the ball, losing against AI teams, especially if you are a veteran of bb2, it's basically impossible.

I'd say: stick to bb2, at least till they improve the AI which seems an unlikely possibility. Even if they give us eternal league, I don't see the point with such dumb opponents.

I have already played several games and it is true, AGI teams tend to avoid confrontation and STR teams focus only on hitting, the ball doesn't matter

Nothing's been confirmed.

At this point I would be assuming a, "No," with a chance it might someday be updated to, "Maybe?" if enough players keep asking for it.

But the general lack of existing single-player features or interest shown towards ever adding any suggests it's unlikely to warrant any dev time any time soon, if ever. At the very least we know it doesn't appear on the 2023 Road Map at all, so the absolute best case would be in early 2024, which I highly doubt.

+1 .... yes we need AI League like BB2.
I don't know why that was removed in BB3. :(

You can create an ai round robin tournament so you play the matches but doesn’t have a league table so a bit pointless

I was able to start a league with some AI teams but there wasnt a way to trigger the AI vs AI games. And if I had it set to automatic start it auto played one of the human vs AI games.

just play 2, its sad that they dont have what the literal first game had as a main feature

Same here. I´m back at BB2. AI Leagues was my main feature too.
In online games, i have disconnects sooo many times.

After 16 months non-playing BB3 ... can we have an update about this "Singleplayer - AI League" Feature?
Or is my money for this "only MP - BB3" in the trash, finally?

Eternal league is on the roadmap for the december update. I'm not sure I have faith in cyanide that it will be as feature rich as bb2, or that it will include the necessary AI improvements to make it enjoyable, but it is planned and should arrive by the end of the year.

If they continue to update the game after that, there should be 2-3 more years of development to improve existing features and add community requested items such as visible mutation, redraft, etc. None of this has been announced so far, but we do have eternal league to look forward to in december.
