If not think about installing something like this to monitor your fan speeds and temps, and then set your target GPU temp and fan profile more aggressive than what the GPU manufacturers have set for default.
That way your card stays cooler over a wider range of performance use and you will not be 'startled' by sudden ramp up at 86 C. BTW, overheating your GPU will either crash the computer or cause throttling of system performance, so another reason to set fan profile more aggressive.
Basically GPU manufacturers set fan profile to be as silent as possible by default, BUT this is not good for demanding games when you need to keep cooling the card all the time (rather than keep the fans silent...) leading up to peak need situations.
ALSO, how many cooling fans on your system case? Do you have a big heatsink and fans on your CPU? Keep the whole system cooler to keep all the components cool.
thanks for the answer. Yeah I am thinking about MSI Afterburner for this card, but on the other hand it is the first time it happened and I thought the manufacturers fan curve was ok.
My Case has 2 fans blowing in and two fans blowing out. So it is quite well regulated, I can also ramp up those fans on the case when its hotter in summer. The CPU has a custom heatsink on, so its quite cool and quiet. Thats why I never had a problem with overheating GPU. But I will try MSI Afterburner.
new paste on cpu back to normal hope this helps
